Rumor going around that USC forums that they want to sign ~35 high school players this year and about 10 DL. They want to replicate Texas A&M from 2022 and then up the ante it seems.

Pretty telling that they didn't even use any video clips of a packed crowd for their "hype" video.

TBF, I think that photo above of a scarce crowd was the same day as LAD hosting a World Series game, but still, pathetic attendance.

This is interesting because it reveals what I feel like has absolutely been the case - the hiring of Bowden and March splash of commitments is absolutely a PR campaign more than it is about actual improvements to USC.

“We’re hiring good people and getting commitments, obviously things are good!”

The good thing about the transfer portal is that even if this class doesnt fall apart when SC starts losing games in the fall, all these kids could still leave after Riley gets fired in the off season.

Isn't this exactly what ND did the last two years? Start off hot (I believe we had the #1 class at various times in the summers of 2024 and 2025), only to come back to earth once the other programs effectively "caught up" during the season?

They have 25 commits, which is higher than any of the bluebloods (and 9 more than any other program at the moment). According to Rivals, their average star rating is good for the #18 ranked class. Just seems like the rest of the field is going to catch up.

This class is getting annoyingly good. Hopefully a bang average season and other schools start picking off some of these commits, but it’s a pretty loaded class right now

The odds Riley is there in 2027 when these kids are actually contributors is likely sub-50% at this point. Even then, one great class after a bad one isn’t enough to create a top 5 roster. It’s tough to get “worried” right now ab it.

They did exactly this last year. It’ll start to fall apart slowly during OVs and disintegrate in the fall

Still do not understand how ND cannot infiltrate Hoban. They are a Holy Cross school with a strong ND support staff. They keep producing high caliber recruits every year.

Yeah... and then they doubled down yesterday and landed a kid I have ZERO idea why Mike Brown didn't offer. How you let a 6-3 WR with 10.6 100 time and 1000+ yds / 10 TD / 19+ ypc at CSC school, Notre Dame Sherman Oaks go unoffered is beyond me.

Probally because we haven’t had a lot of success with WR’s from Cali. Better to use our sources in Texas, Florida, Northeast

They offered 8 other CA WR's this cycle so it's simply they didn't value him.

He actually started following Freeman, Denbrock and Seider a couple weeks ago but no one from ND ever followed him, ever.

Oh well, WR recruiting is definitely looking up over '25.

They would much rather be ND right now. A lot of key returning starters and a pretty decent recruiting class the last couple cycles as well as some transfers to fill some gaps. One good recruiting cycle, even if it holds will not help them for at least a few years, so we will see what it looks like in 2028 or 2029.
