For years, Vols fans have rooted for other SEC teams because the SEC being good somehow validated their Vols for being bad. This is commonplace for fans of bad teams in the SEC. I didn't hear many SEC chants this year since the Vols were good. Funny how that works.

I just don't understand it. I have never rooted for ND rivals unless their win somehow benefitted ND. But just rooting for your rivals because they are affiliated with your team? Gag.

I feel so much better now knowing that USC and LSU are missing the playoffs. Last week, we were potentially staring at USC, LSU, and UM making the playoffs. Absolutely brutal. Fingers crossed Purdue can complete the trifecta. OSU isn't a ND rival, so I don't care if they make it in.

Yep. I would tell you last night was a playoff game for USC. I'd tell you today is playoff game for TCU. I think these conference championship games a joke and a waste of time, but you can look at them like a first round playoff too.

It can’t be a first round if LSU, KSU and Purdue can’t advance after this. In a 12 team, KSU is in the Playoff with a win. LSU and Purdue even maybe as well they could rocket them up the rankings and put them in as a highest ranked conference champion . In a 12 team, a loss at least potentially loses you a bye. Decides home field versus not.

It’s bullshit anyways TCU has something to lose today, after already proving themselves, while Ohio State, who didn’t prove themselves, just has to sit on the couch and hope someone loses.

They need to completely eliminate CCG (which could happen) or only allow CC to enter the playoff (which can’t happen)

That’s not my point. The “product” is watered down even more currently at 4.

2 is better than 4 but so is 12.

You also suggested that today is a playoff. Today has 3 loss teams. But now 3 loss teams in a 12 team playoff is watering it down. Doesn’t make sense to your retort. Is today meaningful because it’s playoff or is today watered down by 3 loss teams?

College football is predominantly shitty games. Matchups between top 12 teams are exciting and rare. Personally think it will be the opposite of watered down. More fun games to watch, imo

The 12 team playoff is hugely important for ND's future, especially with conference changes. A 1 loss ND is at a major disadvantage to other 1 loss teams in making the 4 team playoff. With a 12 team playoff, a 1 or 2 loss ND team would pretty much be guaranteed to get in.
