I have USC at 69 returning scholarship players counting all eligible for fifth year returning. So far today they have signed eleven 2020 recruits including six OLmen and three DTs.

Two of the last remaining 4* USC leans they hoped would bolster their class, Darion Green-Warren and LV Bunkley-Shelton, are now CB'ed to Michigan and ASU respectively after visits to those schools.

At this point, going only off CBs, USC would add Gary Bryant Jr., Jack Yary, Justin Houston and Sefita Tupe. Assuming they all committed tomorrow, USC would only have the 40th best class. But realistically, other schools ranked around there (Kansas is 42nd!) would add more kids and pass them.

Robinson to Texas. Young signs with Alabama. Rogers signs with Cal. Harrison signs with Utah. A late run at Banks, who had verbaled to ASU failed. He signed there.

Green-Warren (CB), Bunkley-Shelton (WR), Bryant (RB), Yary (TE), Houston (OLB), Tupe (DT), Lynch (SDE), Flowe (ILB), Drennen (APB), Morris (QB) and Sellers (OLB) have yet to sign a LOI.

Flowe just announced for Oregon. I like this for several reasons:

1) I'm excited to see him flying around in the PAC 12.
2) If he had picked Clemson or USC we would've played him.
3) USC's recruiting back just got broken.

Even with Vaughns and Pittman losses in 2020, a 5 star line up of ASB, Bru McCoy, and Kyle Ford with Drake London, who has come on strong at the end of his freshman season, will be plenty of elite skilled talent for the winner of Slovis/Daniels. In the articles talking about their recruiting disappointments, they outline the bullish prediction of 2020. Will be our 2nd/3rd toughest game.

It's basically that. They knew they were having a small class and so they hyperfocused on the top Cal recruits, all of whom shunned them and left them high and dry.

The other thing is that schools have gotten so much better at recruiting California. Only four of the state's top 30 are expected to stay in-state. Seven are going to Arizona State. That's insane.

The "bullish predictions" aren't addressing their defense which is not good. This class doesn't help that problem. PAC12 gives a team like USC a little leeway since most of the teams are so so but the good teams will continue to have their way with SC's defense.

Looking at two class years - 2019 and 2020 (so far) - for USC recruiting by position:

QB 1 - Slovis ('19)
RB 1 - Christon ('19)
WR - 5 in '19 and 1 in '20 (4 4*s)
TE - 2 (both in '19)
OL - 7 - one in '19, six in '20 (2 4*s)
DE - 4 - ('19), none in '20
DT - 4 - ('19), 3 in '20 (all three stars, one is from CC)
ILB - 3 - 3 in '19, none in '20
OLB - none
CB - 3 - 3 in '19 (2 other commits did not enroll), none in '20
S - -5 - 5 in '19 (all 3*s), none in '20

Ten of the total of thirty-seven from both classes were 4*s.
Fifteen of the twenty-seven enrollees from '19 were redshirted.
