Seriously. He’s raised the talent level while finding absolutely dawgs
It's so refreshing. It feels good to have some real killers on our team and not just like one or two. All over the place in every position group we have guys who play with an edge. Some of them, I didn't even know about until recently. I didn't know Love had such an edge to him, for example.

Christian Gray deserves a game ball. Full stop.
If we don’t win I don’t think we see it that way. Most every play and PI and yards given up involved him. When he got beat he got beat like a drum. He makes one play for every 5 he gives up. When he’s good he’s good and when he’s not he’s awful. We should still be working on getting the backups ready. Grey relies on cheating even when he doesn’t have to.

- I thought it was great to win Carr’s bad game. He didn’t look comfortable from the jump.

- Massive performance by the OL especially Otting. Had some doubts there entering today.

- Thought the LBs had a fantastic day in multiple facets. Sneed, KVA and Bowen.

- DTs clogging things up made it easy for everyone else to play fast and focus on pass.

- Didn’t expect Moore to shadow Lemon. Lane had the big day I would worried would happen as a result, but kept in check juuuust enough.

- Ash outcoached Riley. Defense as a whole looked prepared outside of the tempo and first drive.

-Makai Lemon, Makai Lime, Makai Tangerine, it doesn't matter. Leonard Moore is CB1 in the entire country.

-The defense was incredible. USC came into the game with 3 3 and outs all season, that is preposterous. We held them to 2 3 and outs, 3 turnovers, and 2 4th down stops. That's 9 drives without points and a couple of their FG drives were uh...greatly assisted by the refs.

-Which brings me to my next point: fuck the refs.

-Carr was off but we made do.

-Love must hate USC because he was ready to throw down several times. He ran like a fucking demon out there. He wasn't looking to hurdle anyone, he was lowering the shoulder to hurt people. A legacy game for him. As a Vikings fan I saw some flashed of AP out there just in the way he was looking to inflict pain and suffering tonight.

-Christian Gray is a rollercoaster but he just makes the plays when we have to have them.

Lastly:
Fuck Lincoln Riley
Fuck USC
Fuck Colin Cowherd
Fuck Desmond Howard

Fight: OFF
Add EJ Manuel

There was a stretch during USC’s prime where I legitimately didn’t think Notre Dame would ever win again. That Robert Hughes TD to seal the win that broke the streak was *orgasmic*.
In the rain with Tommy at the colliseum to boot! That’s when the return of physical domination for ND returned. I fell in love with Kelly that night and then again in the Sun Bowl. Like many things that live didn’t last but I’ll always have those memories. USC just didn’t want to tackle Hughes anymore.

Anyone know how the DT’s looked last night who looked the best and what their snap count was?

Defensive line
59 - Boubacar Traore

39 - Jared Dawson

38 - Jason Onye

36 - Donovan Hinish

35 - Jordan Botelho

28 - Elijah Hughes

26 - Junior Tuihalamaka

25 - Bryce Young

16 - Josh Burnham

PFF graded him as the #1 player for ND last night at a 90.2
Finally got his breakout game. Jamie at ISD willed that into fruition last night. He kept reiterating Onye was struggling this year but looked borderline dominant last year, so he knew it was in there. Hopefully this gets him back to that form!

Had a moment now to think about this game.

- Love and Price are on fire right now obviously.
- CJ was certainly pressing, but battled through his worst game so far. Would like to see him break his habit of panic decisions like that INT, which was bad.
- As much as I’d like to blame the refs, Gray has still got to learn to defend without being so grabby. Everyone knows it, and when you have a good QB, it will get exposed even more like last night.
- The kicking game needs to get figured out. Every FG and PAT seems like an adventure right now, which is not good.
-There’s going to come a time when the blunders (kicking game, CJs bad INT, PIs) are going to cost a game against a better opponent. USC has a very good offense, but they are likely a 3-4 loss team, not a top opponent. ND was far superior and was able to overcome the miscues. It’s up to this staff to figure out how to get this issues straightened out. They haven’t played a complete game yet, but if they can get into that habit more consistently, this team has the potential to be a repeat of last year, or better.

Huge win. Such a weird game

Positives…

Interior oline
RBs were incredible
Faison
Wr blocking
Almost entire defense

Negatives

Christian gray can not play. That was one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen at corner. He gave up a pathetic long td with no effort, a 2 point conversion, 2 other chunk passes, 5 other short completions, 3 PIs. He was responsible for about 17 of their points. D besides him was lights out! His pick was even bad coverage but a terrible wet throw.

Carr had a bad game

Wagner is struggling

Kicking operation is terrible. Snapping, holding, and kicking. It’s not that hard. Kick off is terrible. Again, kids on scholarship can’t be that bad. This bad has to be coaching of fundamentals. Maybe too much time spent on exotics.

Great win! Need to improve for final run with at Pitt being huge in a few weeks.

Hope Billy is ok, he was awesome.
Nailed it. Would say Reed could have played better than Carr tonight. Humbling experience. I will say Carr often gets a little greedy going downfield and did it only once on his horrible int forfeiting 3 points (maybe) and momentum. His INTs this year have all been terrible throws and decisions. He is lucky he got away with one today. Needs to not have another one of these.
I appreciate the comments regarding Greys spunk but for every play he makes he gives up 5+. For a guy that small you would think he could stay close to the receiver. He needs to get phased out soon.

Interesting USC’s defensive game plan respected ND beating them through the air. Noted in the Michigan game they were not in Nickel often, instead using Gentry as a Rover type LB and playing 3 LBs often. Against ND, they played 5 DBs for 45 plays.

They did not load the box as much as NC State or even Boise. Fucked around and found out.

They were also in strange alignments all night. Late into the 4th Qtr on 3rd and 8 they had a soft box and only 2 DL and no LBs to the left of our formation. The guy next to me and I both said run left and its 10 yards. Price ran left and we ended uo with 5 guys blocking 3 and Price picked up the first down. Really odd defensive alignment and mind blowing to think they may have been anticipating pass.

Love and Price made superstar plays. It’s such a luxury to have both of these guys in the same backfield. Otting was incredible and played so much better than I was expecting. Schrauth was a mauler in the run game and played with incredible grit to come back into the game after initially getting hurt (praying he’s OK). Leonard Moore is a difference maker and the team can play so much more aggressive when he’s on the field. Gray made a big play late, but he was a liability up until that point. Saw a few plays that he wasn’t running 100% and that’s just not acceptable. Defensive line and LB’s were excellent against the run and had some decent pass rushes, even though they didn’t get many sacks. Kicking game was awful and needs to be fixed asap. No excuse to miss an XP, a short FG and have 2 kickoffs go out of bounds. On the bright side, the punting game was really solid and the Price kickoff return TD was a massive momentum shift after USC had taken the lead. That might have been the play of the year so far.

I’m a Los Angeles resident and have a ton of friends and family that went to USC. This is my Super Bowl week every year and, winning 7 of the past 8 years has been so much fun!!! This year was especially fun to rub it in!!! That USC bench gave up long before the game was over and I loved watching every minute of this game!!!
I’m in the same boat as you buddy and this is what matters most. We could win a natty and if we don’t beat SC that year it just won’t count. Ohio Sate can’t fully enjoy last years natty with a loss to UM.
