Has there been a crazier, amazing College football Saturday?

Throw two amazing baseball games in there and today has to be one of the best sports days, in pure excitement, I've ever seen...

This was a very productive Saturday for the Irish. Man, were we ever so close to being one of those Top 10 teams to fall. Surviving this day is awesome.

How the f did usc lose, I turned off tv after that like 50ydish td run by sc. Wasnt there only a few minutes left. ND has to beat fsu now, theres no losing close but still getting in top 4 after beating usc.

Just a glorious day. I can't remember a combined day of ND winning a close game in horrible conditions, and so many top 10 teams sheeting the bed in front of us. The chaos is delicious. Add in dumpster fires like scUM and it's a beautiful day to be Irish. Add in an uptick in recruiting, stupendous. Free the frozen five this week, could it get any better for the Irish at mid-season?

Curious to see rankings. ND wins small vs worse ranked opponent, has all but a few ahead of them lose, but my guess is we still only bump up two spots at best. Slightly worse ranked southern teams beat a couple of those better ranked teams and likely to jump us and I have no faith that pollsters drop Alabama etc all all the way below us because of who they are and who we are. Oddly Sparty, who's been hanging on our mass in the polls this year is in the exact same position and did the exact same thing as us yesterday but instead of facing an anti-ND bias, they get the B1g Ten hate that's out there right now.

we'll likely get screwed by one or all of the following.
Bama won't drop that far
MissSt will jump us
OleMiss will jump us

At least we don't have to worry about UCLA jumping us in the other poll.

The only one of those that would bother me is Bama, but I don't think it'll happen. I've seen some places with TCU ahead of us and that would be bullshit also. My poll would put us at 6.

No way TCU jumps that high.
Bama not dropping that much would bother me less than either Miss teams jumping us. The way SEC teams have skyrocketed into the top 10 after wins is just sickening.

I'll be furious if we only move two spots. 5 of the 8 teams in front of us lost. Only moving two spots would mean that we get jumped by three teams after we beat a #14 ranked Stanford team. Would make zero sense.

I see us at either 4 or 5.

We'll be 6. The polls will be

1. FSU (ridiculous)
2. Auburn
3. Ole Miss
4. Mississippi State
5. Baylor
6. ND

Of course, when 4 teams get in and 3 teams that are about to be ranked in front of us play in the same division, I don't care about the polls.

At the same time, I could see us getting a bump by people who want to market FSU-ND as the biggest game in years or whatever.

I think we need a big fat number 4 next to our name.

Save me the SEC Mississippi(s) BS.

Those are big jumps for the Miss teams. I mean, 7 and 8 spots respectfully. I don't buy it. I see it.

1) FSU
2) Auburn
3) Baylor
4) ND
5) Ole Miss
6) Miss St
7) Bama

This was my initial thought too

One of them crushed a good team. The other beat a very good team. We barely beat an okay team.

Stanford is not just an OK team. They had the #1 overall defense in the country.

We also started several spots above both teams before this week started.

We won against number 14 in the country. If we had beat Purdue again I can MAYBE see one of those teams jumping us.

No they won't. Only people who think that have a crazy victim complex.

Call me crazy.
I'm not saying it will happen, but if you don't see it as at least possible, you're the one that is crazy, or at least the one who is blind to the SEC bias out there. Bama's drops after being ranked #1, or high up, have been very small. Has nothing to do with feeling like a victim. I live in the middle of SEC land, cheer for UT (far second to ND), and have seen clear SEC bias in the rankings year in and year out. I've also heard several talk shows today which say Bama is still one of the top 4 teams in NCAAF. I guess those SEC homers are victims to?

My true guess/thoughts

1. FSU
2. Auburn (should be #1)
3. Baylor
4. Ole Miss
5. ND
6. Mississippi State
7. Bama
8. Mich St

Still, I would not be shocked if we are 6 or 7

We'll be #6. We deserve to be #6. If we beat Bama, we'd be screaming to be #1. Ole Miss deserves to jump us. Miss State destroyed A&M. That's a better win than us slipping by Stanford.

No, no and no. What we did do is beat Stanford, who was #14 in the country.

Ole Miss and Miss St. had good wins, we did too.

A&M's ranking was based on beating down South Carolina, running through a soft OOC (Lamar, Rice, SMU) and coming from behind to beat Arkansas in overtime. That South Carolina win is looking a lot less impressive now that the Gamecocks just lost to Missouri and Kentucky.

I could definitely see an argument for Ole Miss leaping ND in the rankings but Mississippi State's two signature wins are over A&M and an LSU team that should be out of the rankings. Don't get me wrong, their top two wins compare favorably with ND's top two wins right now but leap-frogging seems unlikely given past voting history.

SC isn't the dumpster fire that scUM is, but I love seeing it. F... the ole ball coach.
