I know the list is early so im just throwing out a name to help, but the Garnett kid from out west is high on ND. He is an elite OL prosepect.

As far as our DB pull this year, I think we have a very good shot with Yuri Wright and if Geno takes a visit to South Bend, we have a shot. He didn't just tell ISD what they wanted to hear in the interview and feed them a bunch of bull. He states that Alabama was his favorite but that was because he had been there numerous times. As I said, get him on campus and our chances are very real.

As for Deon Bush, i think we have little to no shot with him. He was a kid that tried to get Rabasa to stay home and play for Miami last year. This kid has Miami written all over him. Let's not forget that Al Golden is a solid recruiter and will be looking to lock down that area.

My wishlist for DB's:

Travis Blanks
Geno Smith
Yuri Wright

These are all very much reasonable. Travis Blanks is a stud.

Overall wish list:

Tee Shepard*
Ronald Darby*
Nick Baratti*
Daly*
Double Decker*
DGB
Keith Marshall
Yuri Wright
Travis Blanks
Geno Smith
Treggs
Darboh
Odenigbo (Spelling might be off)
Noah Spence
Noor Davis
Travis Blanks
JJ Denman
Garnett
A Peat
Mauk/Kiel

Im sure there are a few others Im missing but I'll take that signing class tomorrow. haha Just being optimistic.
You need to watch tape of Tracey Howard. I like Wright, but he isn't in the same class as Howard.

Howard is not leaving the state of Florida in my opinion. That's the only reason he is not on my list. Everyone on my list I really think we have a shot with. I like Tracey Howard too my friend.

Fair point! I don't think he leaves Florida either.

Maybe some folks consider Springman, Niklaus, Tuitt, et al candidates for nose tackle. If so, then all this ignoring of the anchor position might make sense in some Universe [that I'm not living in]. Yes, we loaded up on the D-line AT DEFENSIVE END. Louis Nix is One Guy. We need more than him two years from now.

Noah Spence? Anyone?

I had Spence on my "realistic wish list." I haven't forgotten about him just because he has been relatively quiet.

Old man Mike, I agree that nose tackle has been somewhat forgotten and Im not sure why. The staff doesn't seem to set on pushing for a nose tackle in this class which leads me to believe that either Springmann or Hounshell will be making that transition.

I think Hounshell would be a good fit if he bulked up. I envision him taking over the nose more so than Springman.

I'm not sure either of them have the body type for a NG in a 3-4.

Maybe Kona if he can bulk up, but he's loaded on a ton of weight in the past year.

This class and next class will need a true NG and a swing guy that can play either DT or NG depending on the alignment

Does anyone think we take two RBs this year? Maybe a highly touted guy and then an under the radar type of guy? We desperately need depth at RB.

Or maybe just one this year and one next?

I think 2. We are going to load up on skill position players this year (DB, RB and WR) like we did on the lines last year.

I agree we will take two RBs if we can and atleast one big NT hopefully with chances to add another the next year. Those are two areas we've ignored the last two years outside of Big Lou...would love to see us land at least one stud at each of those positions.

Couldn't agree with you more. We really need a couple of running backs in this class for sure. We need the depth for sure. I would also like to get a true NT as well this year, again to add to the depth. We can always bulk up one of our other guys, but a star NT would be a nice pick up.

I think we will land two top notch Rb's because every RB recruit in America who ND has offered knows that RB is our weakest spot when it comes to depth. This is the time for a top 5 RB to come in and have to sit one year maybe two behind Cierre and split time with him. We are in great shape for a top notch RB maybe 2!

Anybody heard of Nana Kyeremeh? This is the third time I have heard of him -- Way too unbelievable stories. Saw him play too. Tough as nails; faster than lightening. That stuff. He may be the fastest recruit we extend an offer; apparently he just ran a 4.3 flat 40 with a hand held radar. He is out of Worthington Ohio.

His 40 time is listed as 4.4 but who knows how early on that time was. His shuttle is listed in the same profile as 4.19, which is smokin’. And if that is a Freshman through early Junior time, wow!

His high school is just down the road a few miles from Dublin Kaufman. There are a lot of good players from the Columbus area. I don’t think he has many (or any) big-time offers yet, but expect them. He would be a prefect guy for our class as it is shaping up!

This is what I could read on ISD

ND Checks On Speedy CB .
Thursday, 21 April 2011 23:59 Christian McCollum . .With a pair of elite corners in Tee Shepard and Ronald Darby already in the fold, the Notre Dame coaching staff is still looking for a third.

The Irish already have some other elite offers out, but they aren’t done evaluating other prospects yet. Notre Dame assistant Tim Hinton was at Thomas Worthington High School in Worthington, Ohio checking on another corner on Thursday.

5-foot-10, 165-pound cornerback Nana Kyeremeh already holds offers from Boston College, Toledo and Akron, but is receiving interest from Ohio State, Northwestern, Cincinnati, Indiana, South Carolina and Notre Dame as well.

Hinton wasn’t able to talk directly with Kyeremeh, but he was able to relay a message about what the Irish are looking for.

“They’re looking for speed,” Kyeremeh said. “It sounds like they’re pretty interested.”

Kyeremeh would certainly satisfy the speed requirement after running a 4.30 hand-held 40-yard dash at the MSR Ohio Combine last month. Aside from being fast, Kyeremeh is also tough.

With the potentially tight numbers and our 4 returning TEs in 2012, should we take a TE in this class, or do we make room for other positions that could use some depth?

Yea not 100% sure what the deal is. Just discussed it with some mods on another site and they had a recent interview with Patrick. He confirmed he did not have an offer. I don't think it has anything to do with academics, so I'm not sure what the hold up is.

I think that the following is close enough to the topic of this thread to be legitimate. Some time ago I used Rivals to find out how recruiting was going nationwide. I used the top 50 rated recruiting teams from last season plus four more. Up to a week or so ago, these 54 teams had gotten 196 verbals. Over the [approximate] last week 31 more verbals occurred [we got three]. This left the top ten teams as of this evening on the site: 1). Texas A&M [19]; 2). Texas [16]; 3). Alabama [11]; 4). Florida [9]; 5). LSU[9]; 6). TCU [8]; 7). Houston [8]; 8). Florida State [7]; 9). Miami [7]; and 10). Oklahoma State [7].

Most of the "new" commits continue to pour out of Texas [11 of the 31], but the midwest is starting to pop [9].

Because of my well-known concern for Defensive Tackles, I looked to see who already had theirs. Alabama, FSU, Louisville, South Carolina, TCU, Texas A&M, and WVU have one. Penn State has two. Florida and Texas have three.

Because you guys love the cover-boys, I asked myself who had their Quarterbacks. Alabama, Auburn, California, Minnesota, Texas, Texas Tech, and Virginia Tech have one. Miami, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M have two. Stanford has actually lost the one it had.

The meaning of this is of course not very clear, but it demonstrates the very fast pace the powers go at early. It also demonstrates that every kid in Texas is playing football and can't wait to "sign". It also seems to indicate that midwest players wait a bit longer, but may be deciding to start the commitment train now. Lastly, it indicates to me that Texas and A&M are about out of scholarships already and may not be as serious players for many who are left.

p.s. Boston College, MSU, and UCLA are schools with NO verbals yet. Imagine how crazy you'd be if you rooted for those schools!

Jason I'd consider adding Goldman from DC to the list now that he is planning on visiting ND.
