In 2011, our defense forced a grand total of 14 turnovers (8 INT, 6 fumbles).
Four games into 2012, our defense has forced 13 turnovers, matching our interception total for all of last season with eight. Bennett Jackson and Manti Te'o, with three interceptions a piece, would have led the team in interceptions last year.
On the other hand, we turned the ball over a whopping 29 times last year, leaving us with a dreadful -15 turnover margin. Four games in, we have turned the ball over just 5 times, compared to the 15 we had at this point last season, and are sitting pretty on a +8 turnover margin.
This is the biggest and most important difference between last year's squad and our current one. Discuss.
