What you just described is 'mankinds' basic belief in marriage since its dawn.

My 'personal' belief is that gay couples should have state recognized civil unions with all of the rights as married couples.
I also believe that if you want to go the marriage route then put it to a referendum and let the people vote for it. Or have state legislatures create the laws.
State legislatures will create laws. Many will ban gay people from marrying thereby diminishing their personal freedoms and rights in that state. Go forbid you are from a state that accepts gay marriage and legally allows it but have to go to a state for a job or such where they don’t.
I can think of dozens of reasons why this is a bad idea when it comes to civil liberties and discrimination. These should be at a minimum legal everywhere and mandates at the federal level. States should not have the ability to make my sister a second class citizen.

Your sister is not a second class citizen. She's a beautiful child of God.
I have relatives who are gay as well. My uncle hung himself in a closet after his HIV became AIDS. I have one who is far closer who is Bi. I don't take my position lightly and treat all gays like I do everyone else....with dignity and respect.
Your points about state to state dynamics are real and make the state thing problematic.

In many states she would be second class of these laws are enacted. I live in a state where they are chomping at the bit to pass these laws. They literally are waiting on the SCOTUS to say Obeegfell isn’t settled law anymore and they turn it over to the states.

It absolutely does. The current SCOTUS ruling in Obeegfell says you are wrong. lamooooo smh
Be careful lmao. Chief Justices Alito and Thomas have typewriters ready.

It was never illegal for gay people to get married. Marriage was just generally limited to a man and a woman.

I'm indifferent to gay marriage. I'd vote against it on a referendum but wouldn't care if it passed. But Obergefell was ass lol

This is bullshit. Where is marriage defined in our constitution as only a man and a woman? Indifferent but you’d vote against it? Cool. You “lmao” at Alito and Thomas Taking away my sisters rights. Uh huh :eyeroll:
Hint it’s not. But what is in the Constitution are rights that would be denied by a ban. Denial of marriage of anyone Based on discrimination is unconstitutional. Your religious beliefs do not dictate who or whom can be married. End of story.

Marriage isn't in the Constitution at all. Most things aren't.
Right. So your definition of what a marriage is is just wrong. Same sex marriage is protected just like other issues of marriage( interracial etc). Marriage is protected via the Fourteenth amendment. Along with many other due process issues.

Discrimination isn't unconstitutional. Some is. Some isn't.

You cant marry your parent. You can't marry your sibling. Generally, you can't marry a first-cousin.* I think some states allow it sometimes.

I don’t care about it. I’m just morally opposed to it and would vote against it. Totally don’t care though.

If my sister and I would like to get married, does the Constitution require the great state of ND to allow it? If no, why not?
Inbreeding causes horrible physical deformities. I don’t think gay people have that problem.

As you know incest is fairly taboo for a host of genetics and reproductive reasons so it’s taboo for reasons other than legality. Incest laws vary wildly between states. I’d assume if incest was brought before the court it would be ruled against for these societal taboo reasons rather than legal ones. I’m unaware of a SCOTUS ruling in investual marriage. Incest can cause deformities to babies as well as a host of other health problems for a baby arising from such a relationship. I understand that several states allow some form of incest but generally marriage is criminally enforced. You could go to your homeboy Putins Russia and have a incestuous marriage. Also Argentina and Brazil allow it Penalty free.

A non incestuous gay couple marrying presents no such issues to a living being arising from their marriage.

This is literally insane. The one guy who was caught on video urging people to go INTO the capitol the day before the insurrection and we have the NY Times, of all places, doing a puff piece on Ray Epps. We are living in Bizarro World.

The 80's and 90's are back. Mullets, Adidas, mustaches, etc. My teacher buddies tell me their students (male and female) are getting perms.
Not surprising. All of the decades seem to make a return sooner or later. BTW.....how's your mullet coming along?
