Another SPOILER:

I am going all in early, I reckon that crazy friendly looking lady who waves at the kids from her porch whilst they ride up the street did it (well, her crazy husband did it but she was the mastermind).

This is my wife's theory as well.

Is she the one that's always hanging around the house and is always there when bad news comes? Because yeah that's my bet as well. The camera always carefully shows her but never comments on her.

Last night's episode was pretty good. The junk man opened the green bag and it was loaded with guns. On the previous episode he carried the bag like a kid was in it, but that was too obvious IMO.

I think the True Detective subreddit has probably already solved this case which I think will be very satisfying for anyone looking to go spoiler-free.

On a related note: SPOILERS:

next week's preview shows the documentary lady's laptop and a picture of the Season 1 detectives is on it...maybe this isn't an anthology after all...

On the spoiler you hid, i hope it's not just a silly rabbit to chase.

I saw 100 theories on reddit. Which one do you think solved things? So many Easter eggs, rabbits and angles, my head hurts lol...

A buddy of mine has been of the opinion (since before S3 started) that NP will loosely tie all three seasons together by the end of S3.

Haha, thanks for the heads up.

Didn't really think I was spoiling anything. The junkman isn't the killer. He's a typical diversion detective shows love to use. Like I said, the way he carried that bag was so obvious it was easy to know the girl wasn't in there. They're just hoping you take the bait. If he were the killer, why would he hide her body in a bag and put it in his shed when he killed the boy and left his body?

I will say the bedroom scene was pretty provocative.

With things heating up and getting real, and so many "theories" and Easter eggs, probably wouldn't hurt to have a spoiler thread.

Considering the girl is still alive, it's highly unlikely her dead body would be in a bag in the 80s, yeah? Deductive reasoning.

Saw that on reddit earlier this week. It's been hard not turning it on tonight. Trying to save it for tomorrow after CBB.

It's been, very clearly, a return to season 1 form for me. The back half of ep 6 really gave me the creeps in a way the first season never did. (In a good way).

S 1 is my favorite season of TV maybe ever. I've watched it 4 times lol.

The parallels stylistically and in detective relationship dynamics have been fun to watch.

Can't remember the last time I watched a week at a time and had to wait. I've gotten so spoiled on binging shows I want to watch that I forgot how enjoyable the suspense can be..

I really like the dialogue and interaction between detectives Hays and West. West brought Hays back on the case because he has a knack for seeing things a little differently and cutting through all of the BS.

i love this season. S1 is still my clear favorite (at this time), but S3 blows S2 out of the water, and is pretty awesome on it's own.

the chemistry between the two is great. not sure anything can come close to the S1 chemistry of Woody and Matthew, but Ali and Dorff are nailing it.

the last two episodes have taken it up a notch. two more to go. should be lit.

Two more to go and I don't think it can be this simple. A lot to be uncovered over next two episodes.

They're hiding something. They've thrown out too many diversions (lady on the porch, the former cop now head of security, the junkman, kids dad) to keep you from the real perp.

I think Rolan is also gay and seeing Tom. I know other people have mentioned of this as well. Still think Tom is killed by the security guy, Roland finds out loses his mind and then kills the cop for Hoyt foods. We all find out in the end it was Hoty and the mom all along making some sweet deal. Part of me thinks maybe Emilia covers some things up. She fucking knows something too.

I don't think Roland is gay, simply based on his chasing the lady at church. His efforts that day were poon houndish.

I think the mom was involved with Hoyt, they both are at the root of things, and Hoyt had her killed. I do agree/think that Tom get's killed by the Hoyt security dude, Roland then kills him, and Wayne helps cover it up.

Still not sure about Emilia. The whole one-eyed man confrontation gave me a WTF moment. Still trying to figure out Wayne's daughter's situation and tie in.

I'm not getting any gay vibes out of Roland either, but you never know.

I am in almost the same place. The mom at worst had knowledge of, but was likely complicit in, giving her daughter over to Hoyt.

Another thing I'm seriously contemplating is the idea that Hoyt covered up Tom's killing by killing the security dude. But then that'd leave dirt for Roland and Wayne to do on somebody else, when the security dude (esp with Wayne pretending he didn't know who the Hoyt security guy was on the TV interview) is most likely.

With so many parallels to the first season, it wouldn't surprise me to see the DA somehow connected to Hoyt and steering the case to simple clean answers.

And the case likely goes to a larger scope of a something conspiratorial beyond just people covering for Hoyt. A pedophile ring seems likely. I don't see O'Brien having (paranoid) knowledge of an isolated incident.

Haha. GBDoomer had me convinced and then this. Very true and well put.

There has got to be a big twist of some sort because otherwise if it was Hoyt it seems likely they would have solved it from this 1990 point. It is unsolved in the present time line.
