So someone brought him up in the IB chat and Driskell said he's a solid player, but not an immediate starter. He then said Austin is someone ND should look at especially if "They think it helps them keep Jaiden...". Mmmm, don't like that last tidbit.

I had no idea we were going to be this successful in the portal.. My expectations were that we'd get blown out of the NIL game. Who do we have to thank for this?

Is this fuND stepping up?

I am also realizing now that a lot of kids dream of playing ball at Notre Dame & simply don't stand out enough in HS or just for whatever reason don't get the offer.

But now they can stand out on the national stage & jump in the portal a year or two later for a 2nd chance.. I get that it goes like that for every big program but we're clearly getting what we need so far.

It's weird to say but College Football sort of has a farm system now..

Did anyone ever hear the reason Holden Staes transferred? That is the only one I am a little upset about. He seemed to have the skills and was getting burn. A little confused about that one. I wish Tyree would have stayed but I get that and dont see that as much of an impact compared to what Staes potential is.

Probably saw Raridon in the weight room and getting healthy mixed with Evans turning into an All American. I don't blame him. He can go to Tennessee or most other high level programs and be a number 1 tight end. That's just not the case here unless there are health or attrition issues.

Sure Evans may not be healthy to start the season but even then Staes is looking at a month or so of shared time to prove himself.

I never heard it stated as fact but it was apparent Mitch-a-palooza was the primary target and Staes was getting 2nd TE reps but his usage declined over the course of the season. Then Raridon started getting healthier and getting more targets. I believe Raridon, if healthy, looks like a number 1 TE. Evans is a 1B or starter-level player and lots of people were impressed with Cooper Flanigan as a true freshman.

ND always has a loaded TE room and Staes wants to go somewhere he can be the guy de-facto. I wish he would've stayed as well but in all honesty, it was probably the right move for everyone in this instance.

Speaking of all this to and fro of players (e.g., Angeli goes to BC/Duke/Vandy for a year to get experience and then comes back to ND to make a run at starting here), it looks like this ruling has a chance to be permanent which would then make all these scenarios possible. Even though the current sit a year is now only after the 2nd transfer, it is too much friction (and hit to a players NIL potential) to make sense any more but wow, how the game is changing! Judge's ruling favors NCAA athletes seeking 2nd transfer

I don't see how eligibility and scholarship limits can survive where transfer limits fail.

I think linebacker is a bigger need than safety. Outside of Kiser, there’s no one above a RS freshman

That's the situation at Safety. At LB, Sneed and Ziegler are RS So. At LB, it's more important the young guys see the field because with the portal the way it is guys aren't waiting until they're a Jr or Sr to see the field. You might have to go to the portal for LBs by spring if they don't do a better job getting the younger guys playing time.

The judge and the NCAA are both trash.

I wouldn't mind going after Brandon Johnson Nickel for Duke need some depth at the safety postion. He is good at getting to the QB too.
