Serious question, how are we "looking" at someone, so much so in Riley's case the beats are running with it when they haven't even hit the portal? ND showing they'd tamper would be a level of commitment to winning we know they don't have. So how does this work pre portal?
Everyone tampers. That's why crystal ball predictions roll in for players within minutes after they've hit the portal. People were saying Hartman to ND last year before he even hit the portal. IIRC, it was the morning of WF's bowl game.

They show interest by talking with someone in Riley’s party, like a family member or something. They did the same thing with Hartman.

It’s not tampering if the player reaches out through his contacts to the teams.

Last year, Logan Diggs was calling BK and the LSU coaches weekly.

Tampering. Recruiting reporters won't ever say it because they have connections to coaching staffs and don't want to lose them

Sounds like you are saying that Diggs wasn’t reaching out through contacts. He was directly communicating with BK?

Major hell yes to Cam Ward btw
I didn't know anything about him a day ago. Just based on some 2023 stats and highlights, these are my takeaways:

1. Good arm
2. Yards/per attempt (7.8) took a nice jump up in 2023 but still not that great. For comparison, Hartman is almost at 9.0 this year. Does WSU use a lot of WR screens?
3. Mobile but not much of a runner. Instead uses mobility to improvise and find receivers down the field

What do you guys think?

Just saw that!

Well hell... That would be pretty sweet too.

Maybe I'm reading way too much into this, but if ND is seriously talking to those type of guys, they must have someone they're pitching as an OC for next year too.

No way 2 guys with serious NFL potential would even pick up the phone otherwise, right?
Not to be a Debbie Downer but picking up the phone for schools like ND (even if not really interested) helps get them a sweeter offer at their preferred destination.

It's a rough year to be a QB with so many likely first rounders. That's why Ewers is probably coming back to UT. Combine that with NIL

Not that I disagree, but if ND can drop a bigger bag than Auburn and Florida for Sam Hartman then money clearly isn't an issue. Since ND thinks it's icky to pay elite HS recruits, there's no excuse for them not being the Oregon or any SEC team equivalent with grad transfers and being able to buy the best (or one of the best) grad transfers at every single position of need.

I'm just saying that none of it means ND is sitting on some great news about the 2024 staff.
