This is the way. Athletic limitations aside, the guy gave it his all for ND. Some fans want to shit on him as a player when he stepped up and guys like Crist and Hendrix failed to reach their potential. Their anger was misplaced, and for some of those fans Rees will never have their support.

Stefanski obviously feels good bringing him to Atlanta. If they have success it's going to look really bad for the Browns, but that's to be expected.

Dude’s clearly a competent coach and probably a hard worker. His bosses seem to want him around. I’ve not followed Atlanta much much but Tommy’s got a 1st rounder at QB who played a ton of football in college. If he gets Penix playing great ball, Tommy will have some big opportunities ahead of him.

Pretty sure it was a joke. Not sure anyone could argue Sanders as a Pro Bowler with a straight face, even if Maye or half the other QB's were injured.

I think we can all agree he was a questionable hire as BK's OC in 2020. I'd go even further and say he was a questionable hire as BK's QB coach in 2017. He was not qualified for either of those positions and had mixed results with both. I've never thought much of him as player, QB coach, OC, talent scout, recruiter, developer, or fugitive. But he keeps moving up in the world and he's ours. So props to Tommy.

I think it's wild to state with certainty that a guy was not qualified for an OC job when he was offered probably the most coveted OC job in the country (at that time) two years later. At what point did he become qualified for the ND OC job? At what point did he become so qualified that he surpassed it and could get an even better job? He must've been a quick study! Such a quick study, it's almost like it was smart to hire him to the role in the first place.

Meh... That was 2 years later and he was Saban's 5-6th choice. I hated the timing of the Bama move but wasn't devastated to see him leave.

You can make the exact same claim though for when someone like Sean McVay got hired to be the Rams HC at age 30 or when he got hired to be the Redskins OC at age 27 despite zero coordinator experience and being younger than many guys in the roster.

There is no such thing as "qualified" in coaching, and people who traffic in resumes over ability tend to make poor hiring decisions.

Fair point re: "qualified" being a subjective term. I'll just say this- BK loved him a good nepotism hire and TR might take the cake there. I doubt anyone was beating down his door to hire him as QB coach in 2017 or OC in 2020.

The BK "don't look outside the circle" lazy way of hiring is a 100% valid criticism and arguably one of the bigger drivers of his downfall
