He's already set up for career advancement. The best he can do at Bama is maintain the status quo. There was significant room for improvement at ND. Do the math. He went from high ceiling to arriving at the ceiling. He can only hurt his stock now.
Maybe from a historical perspective going from ND to Bama is a lateral move, but going from serving under new HC Freeman to GOAT Saban is anything but. Being on Saban's staff and learning how he organizes & runs things, and how he evaluates talent and analyzes tape is a major career enhancer that will give you a leg up in every future job opportunity. It's lateral.

As for maintaining the status quo, that's not as easy as it looks. Bill O'Brien is a former CFB HC and NFL OC and he couldn't do it. Kiffin and Sark could, but not any others. And just maintaining the status quo for Kiffin and Sark did a lot more for their careers than just making them look like place holders. Nobody looked at them and said, "Well yeah, anybody could run that offense with that roster talent." No, there's a lot more to it than that. Maintaining the status quo at Bama is difficult and doing so earns you MAJOR kudos and opportunities. If Tommy succeeds at Bama, the CFB will be his oyster.
I would agree the O didn't exploit the bucks-however my perception (I heard from somewhere) was MF wanted a ball control offense in this game-preventing scoring in bunches. Always wondered if that ticked TR off.Which two? I think a better OC wins the OSU game. Defense did its job that night...

He will also benefit, as a coach, from learning a new system/program/coaching style. He's already set up for career advancement. The best he can do at Bama is maintain the status quo. If Tommy thought the fan base was critical here wait until he disappoints them in Tuscaloosa. There’s no anger like a southern red neck hopped up on Mountain Dew whose sister has her period.
Totally made up.Some of the ideas and stereotypes you guys have about The South are "interesting" to say the least. I grew up in small town Alabama during the '60s & '70s. There were no "Colored Only" or "Whites Only" signs and no store or business in my town was closed to Blacks. There was no conflict. We all just got along pretty well. Never saw a Klansman in my life. We had several Catholic and Jewish kids in my school. I don't recall anyone ever mentioning it as an issue in any way or thinking of it as anything other than just another fact such as what street they lived on or where their dad worked. Heck, we elected a Jewish girl in my class as homecoming queen. A lot of the bigotry and such some assume was more the exception than the norm, and more likely to be found on TV than actual day-to-day life.
He’s a Ween fan. ‘Nuf said.Serious question: what makes someone like you want to twist and spin something in the most inaccurate and hateful way? Are you insecure, or just a bitter asshole, or got a small penis or a cheating wife or what? I've just never understood the mentality to try and make an ugly, hateful comment when it isn't necessary. If you've got a problem with me, then man up and address it directly. If you're just a bitter little shit, then get over it. That being said, have a nice day and I genuinely hope you rid yourself of whatever burr is under your saddle.
I know you were being sarcastic, but it really is different if you’re a star athlete. The south is so terrible and racist that all of the black players can't wait to leave and go to the schools up north.
You’ve obviously not spent enough time in the South. It’s on a totally different level.Yeesh, give me a break. There is racism everywhere, and at least as much in "the north" as the south.
Seriously, you have got to be the dumbest person on the Internet.Totally made up.
If you had just left out the part about Jews in your small, Alabama town, it might’ve been more believable.Seriously, you have got to be the dumbest person on the Internet.
Well, here's your chance to earn $1000 (or $5000 if you like) and learn a valuable life lesson. 100% serious offer. WhiskeyJack is one of the owners of IE, an attorney, and a generally trusted man here. Let's you and I each put up $1000 or even $5000 if you like, let Whiskey hold it and be the judge, and if I can't prove easily and quickly and convincingly to Whiskey that what I claimed was true, you get the money. If I do, I'll be getting another guitar on your dime.If you had just left out the part about Jews in your small, Alabama town, it might’ve been more believable.
Someone needs to tell Tim Brown that he doesn’t know anything about football because Nick Saban, Dan Orlovsky, Golic Jr. and Sean McVay like him so it’s impossible that anyone who isn’t simple minded could just not see it with Tommy Rees.

Not quite. 3rd year, but his 1st class were all underclassmen Sophomores this year, and they made up a large portion of the contributors on that offense besides Mayer and to a lesser extent Tyree. Alt, Fisher, Buchner, Estime, Colzie, Thomas, Diggs, and some flashes from Evans when Mayer wasn't the focus.C’mon, by year 3 there should be no excuses about not having your guys. ND had plenty of talent on offense relative to some of the production last year.
Nope. No peeking at the evidence first. Put your money up with Whiskey and I'll provide him with all the info and proof. You'll learn a valuable lesson about saying stupid shit and I'll have a new Strat. Win/win for us both. What’s the name of the town?
ND OCs get MAC level jobs, or aren't retained.Name the last ND OC not named Chip Long to not get a HC position.
That’s a rough DC hire on the surface by Saban. But I’ve been told by some that it’s literally impossible that Nick could make a bad coordinator hire, so I’m sure it’ll work out.
