I agree with everything you said. It’s still not a good look for the state of the program in my opinion. I’ve tried to keep a positive outlook in the current climate, but it’s getting harder to be one of the have nots in this arms race.

I really don’t care about the optics or Rees leaving. I do care that the timing makes it harder to get someone really good. People here talking about it being impossible for Rees to turn down such a great opportunity yet he’s probably their 5th (or greater) choice. Seems like others found it easy to say no.
I dunno about college, that's too much work, but was curious so looked at NFL coaches.
He a coaches kid from a Midwestern football family. Clark Lea trusts him, and I still think highly of Lea as a football coach and person.
He was offered the job during Wednesday’s interview. Therefore, going to Tuscaloosa the next day means he probably wanted to check things out before accepting and finalize some of the details. I don’t see how he comes back after having a Bama plane pick you up in South Bend. The optics of it all look terrible.
No I mean LSU tried to poach Rees last year. He stayed at his alma mater.
I don't think I ever wanted him fired but I didn't want him hired because I thought there were better/more proven options like Moorhead, who reportedly would have accepted the job.
