Last night on RAW, Daniel Bryan announced his retirement. We are led to believe his dozen or so concussions during his career is the reason why the medical staff has advised him that he shouldn't wrestle any longer. Pretty sad, he was by far one of the most beloved by fans. Here is his goodbye speech from last night.

A couple of my friends were all broken up about this, I had to laugh, they don't give two shits about Manning, Jeter or any of those guys, but a WWE star retires and it's all this talk about history and greatness... I mean I watch wrestling, and even I shake my head sometimes... lol

I'd argue that WWE stars give more for their fans than any other "professional athlete" does. I put that in quotes because wrestling uses the term "sports entertainment" now, but you know that. Wrestlers are on the road almost year round, no off season, constantly doing house shows in between taping live shows. When a wrestler is injured he's often forced to go back and perform before he can recover...not that other professional athletes don't do that, but I think it's well documented that wrestlers are almost forced back into action sooner. People are still going to buy Yankee tickets if Jeter wasn't playing, but a lot of kids aren't going to show if Cena isn't wrestling that night.

I'm a bit surprised this came from you. If the Rock said he'd never step in the ring again, you wouldn't be a bit disappointed? I know I would be. I've all but quit watching wrestling since HBK retired, I just can't get into it anymore. The only young wrestler that I enjoyed watching was Daniel Bryan. He's one of those rare combinations of a wrestler that has incredible charisma, can work the crowd, and on top of all that can put on an entertaining match. I think some guys are born with a passion for the business and give a little extra, and it's hard not to root for those people. It's a shame Bryan had to end his career early.

This coming from the guy who hates on the Rock every chance he gets....

I'm saying in the context of having heard a few friends of mine who basically hate on sports in general, complain about it, and roll their eyes at GOAT discussions, or any in depth sports dialogue... get all emotional about the Bryan moment last night... and then do with a wrestler all the things they complain about with other pro sports.

I liked it better when you were kidnapped by the government... I'm as big a Rock fan as anyone, he just can't hold a candle to Piper as a heel.

I can understand the hypocrisy in that case. It's one thing to enjoy all sports and identify with one more than others, but to discount a sport and their fans I think it's a bit like the pot calling the kettle black.

You watch your mouth when you talk about THE TRAILBLAZING, EYEBROW RAISING, JABRONI BEATING, ALALALALALALALA, PIE EATING, HEART STOPPING, ELBOW DROPPING, PEOPLE'S CHAMP, THE ROCK!

The Rock says know your role, AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH!

That's not heel Rock, that's face Rock. Face Rock was untouchable, but heel Rock was too likable to provide a foil for his opponents. You've proved my point, thanks.

How can you have a GOAT when it's all planned out ahead of schedule?

True story, back around '98 or so, my kids were wrestling in the AAU Nationals in Tulsa. We're standing in the registration confirmation line when in walks Rick Flair with his kid. As he walked by I said "Do you smell what the Rock is cookin'?" He gave me one of those "Go F*** yourself" looks. My kids were cracking up.

While pro wrestling is "fake," there are some athletes that contribute more than others. Some guys are limited to mostly punches, kicks, and a few slams as part of their move set, but there are some very talented wrestlers out there that put on actual wrestling matches. I'm mostly talking about older generation wrestlers like Steamboat, Bret Hart, Michaels, Flair in his prime, Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, Macho Man in his prime, etc. All great technical wrestlers that could put on matches with just about anyone. These guys were so good they could have a match with a sloth and make it entertaining. When I think wrestlers that were GOAT, I think of those guys that could put on legitimate matches and do crazy athletic things, sometimes putting their bodies on the line to perform moves for the fans.

Anyone else watch WrestleMania last night. I thought it was pretty good even though Im not a Roman Reigns fad. A lot of the internet die hards are disappointed with the booking, but those type of people are never satisfied.

The womans triple threat match actually ended up being the best event of the night. It was really cool to see the Woman have a title now and not the garbage Divas belt.

I would have like to see Dean Ambrose put up a little more of a fight against Brock Lesnar. I understand he was getting destroyed, but Deans character is supposed to be insane, and i just felt like he gave up too soon. I think it would have been better for his character if he went alittle more out there.

Once Shane O Mac lost, I just knew Reigns was going to get the title.

I was really hoping Shane and Triple H would both win, and then we could see a feud between those two. But it looks like that wont happen and I would be surprised if we see Shane anytime soon.

In the end, I thought it was pretty good. I just hope Seth Rollins hurries up and comes back to the main event. His character is just so good, and the overall story needs him.

The whole Shane story was so odd from the beginning... putting him in a Hell N the Cell against taker at WM?? After many years of just... nothing... it MAY have worked ten-fifteen year ago... anyway...

I don't watch wrestling anymore, but I went over to a buddies house to watch last night. Really enjoyed it.

I agree that the women's match was the best of the night.

Loved seeing Stone Cold, HBK, and Mick Foley come out.

Really disappointed in the Ambrose/Lesner match. It was a no holds barred match that lacked any real street fight. At least go backstage or something. Boring finish.

I liked the ladder match.

Thought the Jericho and AJ match was very boring to start, but really picked up steam throughout.

If anyone is interested, I've created a group for Folk and FRECO fans. That way, we don't have to intermingle with this thread. If interested, I can send you and invite.

The last few years I've usually found the WM matches online a few days after the event and I'll peruse the card. It's not worth the price tag to order the PPV imo anymore. It sounds like there were a lot of duds on the card, especially if the Women's Title match stole the show (Based on some reviews). I honestly think pinning Roman Reigns as the future is a bad move too, that guy doesn't belong in your main event.

Some things are too predictable, like an Undertaker win. I'd like to see more curve balls, like when Piper showed up unannounced and unexpected during Hogan's match with Vince about 10 years ago. I heard Cena made a surprise appearance, back from injury...but that's more like a disappointment than a curve ball.

Haven't watched wrestling since I was about 14-15 but I did look up on youtube HBK, Stone Cold and Mick coming out and that was pretty badass. The rest of the matches were people I have never heard of before.

To be fair, no one has heard of half these wrestlers, even if they have been following wrestling recently.

I bolded this because of how off base it is. With the talent that was called up from NXT in the past year, the top of women's wrestling in WWE has completely changed. It's no longer about tits and ass, but good wrestling. That women's match last night is a match of the year contender and it has nothing to do with sex.

I don't get why Wyatt and Owens aren't pushed harder... They can carry the card much better than Roman imo.... Also, why bring Styles over if you aren't really gonna do anything with him?

On Styles, patience dude. He's one month into his WWE career and lets call a spade a spade, a lot of WWE fans had no idea who he was. Smart wrestling fans as a whole do, but thats not your average WWE fan.

I doubt he'll go over Reigns, but it looks like Styles in the #1 contender now. That main event was actually pretty good, I caught most of it, missed the rest of RAW. Fatal Four Way between Kevin Owens, Jericho, Styles, and Cessaro. Lots of near pinfalls, great reversals by Jericho and Styles, and lots of....uppercuts by Cessaro I guess.

I just watched this also. It was actually a pretty good end to RAW tonight. I also think AJ is the most diversified guy on the roster. I think eventually a AJ vs Seth Rollins feud could be pretty good in the future.

I honestly have only seen a few matches of AJ's when he was with TNA. He's obviously a great in ring performer and not a one trick pony like a lot of "Sports Entertainment" wrestlers. How is he on the mic? Is he charismatic, can he carry a feud?
