This is in no way a call out of you, I think the entire Notre Dame fanbase does this (myself included for sure), but why do we all collectively act like Minchey doesn't exist and the competition will be Angeli vs Carr? What if Minchey is a baller and wins the battle?
Completely understood.
It's a percentages game we're playing. Minchey's real PT came in the spring game, where he looked to be overwhelmed under pressure and made poor decisions repeatedly. Could be a result of very poor OL play. Could be a harbinger of things to come.
In that same game, Angeli looked good and Carr looked even better. Maybe it was the plays called, maybe it was the defenses faced. Probably all of the above.
It is completely possible for Minchey to have a mental break through, begin identifying the open man pre-snap and ball out all spring/summer/fall into the 25 season.
I'd say it's more likely they all make incremental improvements and Carr has the highest upside in terms of tools. Angeli has shown he can handle the bright lights and has even helped produce 2 wins for this team.
It's not an impossible task ahead of Minchey, but with the current data points, it seems less likely for him to emerge the leader. We have all off-season to dissect 3-5 min clips and 8 throws/QB in hopes of identifying the guy. Usually the beat does a good job of disseminating how it looks live.
