Minchey has really been screwed honestly. If wants to transfer there’s no film for him to send out. He would have to compete from scratch in a new system. Angeli could probably start for a lot of schools. I’m sure a program like UNC would love to have him
I’m with Dale. Weird post

This is in no way a call out of you, I think the entire Notre Dame fanbase does this (myself included for sure), but why do we all collectively act like Minchey doesn't exist and the competition will be Angeli vs Carr? What if Minchey is a baller and wins the battle?
Completely understood.

It's a percentages game we're playing. Minchey's real PT came in the spring game, where he looked to be overwhelmed under pressure and made poor decisions repeatedly. Could be a result of very poor OL play. Could be a harbinger of things to come.

In that same game, Angeli looked good and Carr looked even better. Maybe it was the plays called, maybe it was the defenses faced. Probably all of the above.

It is completely possible for Minchey to have a mental break through, begin identifying the open man pre-snap and ball out all spring/summer/fall into the 25 season.

I'd say it's more likely they all make incremental improvements and Carr has the highest upside in terms of tools. Angeli has shown he can handle the bright lights and has even helped produce 2 wins for this team.

It's not an impossible task ahead of Minchey, but with the current data points, it seems less likely for him to emerge the leader. We have all off-season to dissect 3-5 min clips and 8 throws/QB in hopes of identifying the guy. Usually the beat does a good job of disseminating how it looks live.

How has Minchey been “screwed”

He’s a RS freshman. I doubt anyone promised he will be a starter or even the 2nd string by now. How do you know he would even expected that? It’s not NDs job to provide the roster adequate transfer out of ND film
Read enough posts around here and find out clearly that coach Rudolph promised him a starting role.

You are correct. I shouldn’t have said screwed like someone deliberately screwed him. My point is his situation kinda sucks because he’s gotten no playing time. I’m fully aware that’s for a reason.

Kid is healthy and smarter as a result of being at ND. Hanging around and getting a degree and some possible playing time and transferring with two years left sounds like a good plan. Continue to mature physically and mentally and maybe even get a small payday for staying. QBs get hurt even without PT so you never know when your chance is there. Playing QB at ND is greater limelight than playing anywhere!

Just a reminder for all the Angeli-soldiers

Honestly these clips do not scream college ready qb to me. A lot of turning his back to pressure and throwing off his back foot. No question a ton of talent too, but I don’t get the sense watching this that he’s the type of athlete who can get away with that at the elite college level.

Luckily, he’ll have gotten plenty of coaching by the time he takes the field.

Worst case scenario we move him to DT.

Well yeah that little spinout he did in the second throw would probably get him killed against Texas A&M. But also these are from like three years ago at this point right?

Bryant and Boubacar aren’t gonna be backups they are the two best pass rushers on the team. I also think Knapp starts at Center to begin the year and Lambert is the LT with Jagusah at RG. Jared Dawson will start next to Rubio. The rest I agree with.

Yeah to be clear I’m not saying he sucks, far from it, just that I don’t watch that and think to myself Angeli’s a CHUMP, which seemed to be the point of the post.

I'm totally relieved.

What's Boubacar's timeline on being back cleared and healthy?

Flanagan is likely OFY. Unless of course it’s Flanigan.

What a great situation for a first year starter at QB to step into. Great run game, quality experienced OC and probably the best group of WRs we've had in a while. I hope CJ is healthy and shows enough to win it.

We keep having a bunch of long term injuries each season there’s a decent chance each of these projections will be true at one time or another.

Guys on II pod said Pendleton transferred bc two guards ahead were Jagusah and Schrauth. Praise for Lambert throughout too

I maintain the ideal OL would be Lambert and Wagner at T, Jagusah and Schrauth at G and either Craig or Knapp at C.
That puts our likely best five out there. Just need Lambert to earn the job.

It's going to be fascinating to see how the O-Line is going to end up in '25. The only thing I'm confident in is Wagner is the RT. Schrauth is going to be a starter just not sure if it's at LG or RG.
Who gets the starting Center job is another one that's going to get interesting with Craig and Knapp being in the mix. Could Knapp go from starting LT to not playing? It's quite possible.
There is alot of great to special talent for the LT and the other Guard position. Jagusah is going to be one of them the only question is at G or LT?
That leaves alot of talent for the final spot whether it's at G or T with Lambert, Black, Absher and potentially Knapp if doesn't get the C job.
All in all it's going to be a fun watch because there is a ton of potential elite talent.

Assuming he'll be 100% healthy for fall camp, I dont think there's a snowballs chance in hell he's not starting somewhere on the line
Depends how dominant Lambert can be in the spring, IMO. If he can thrive at left tackle, I could see Jags moving to guard and supplanting Knapp. Honestly, I think that is the best possible line next season.

Knapp might be the most talented OL we’ve had in awhile. Don’t fix what ain’t broke. He might stay at LT and be a stud. Lambert can’t play LT supposedly
I thought he looked bad at times but overall did well in the circumstances. If he keeps the spot at LT it better mean he has gotten a heck of a lot better.

It's a near virtual certainty Knapp will not be playing LT moving forward. He did great as true freshman who was playing out of position. If he can snap, I think he could challenge Craig for starting C.

In one game, Jags showed why he's a better LT option and many believe the staff are very high Lambert (with Black also coming in to challenge). And somewhere, somebody mentioned positive things about Prescod.
