I’m guessing Angeli bolts after the playoffs. Minchey and Carr will battle it out for QB1

The leash they gave Riley early in the season tells me they don’t think Angeli is very good. I’d be surprised if he started.
From my perspective, it was more like they were afraid Angeli would come in and do significantly better then Leonard (wouldn’t have been hard against NIU) and then there would be pressure to start him the following game.

I think the coaches believe in Angeli, but they knew Leonard’s ceiling is higher than Angeli’s. If the goal was a national championship, they were going to ride with Leonard and hope that he would get things figured out.

Then they better get a transfer QB in the portal who’s content with being a backup. It would really suck going into next fall with 2 scholarship QBs; one of which is a true freshman.
Unless both Angeli and Minchey would bolt, they’ll be fine. Carr, one of those two, Hebert, that’s fine. And you have Buchner in a pinch.

You gotta think that the loser between Minchey and Carr is gonna think long and hard about sticking around. Also, does Buchner have another year of eligibility?

I’m just hoping they all stick thru spring and there’s a true competition for the job. If it’s clear who’s third he’ll probably leave in the May portal window.

While that may be part of it, I think you're severely underestimating the dynamic that NIL (and the promises that come along with it) has injected into the situation.

We’ve seen how important the spring is to a quarterback if they expect to start somewhere else.
If someone is looking to transfer out, they should do it asap.

Is there another window between now and the spring?

There’s the current one - which if we’re still playing when it closes Dec 28 will extend after our final game - and 10 days in the back half of April after spring ball.

If we want to keep our current QB room intact through spring ball, the best thing we can do is a deep playoff run.

I’m sure there are other programs that would gladly take Angeli or Minchey, but they’re not good/experienced enough that a P4 is going to hold a starting job for them. It’s like musical chairs and a lot of the better spots will fill up with guys who’ve jumped in while we’re still playing. Then maybe they look around when we’re done and decide their best move is to come back for spring and compete at ND.

The QB conversation on the last II pod was interesting. They all stated that Angeli really wants to be the starting QB at ND and that he would most likely want to fight for that job. The other big statement was that TB will be back in the QB room. It all sounded like Minchey is the odd man out...

I feel like I have been hearing about Buchner for half my damn life at this point.

The Virginia and Georgia Tech guys are better than Leonard or Hartman IMO - why stop milking the ACC QB cow now?

Yeah, both can be true. 1-2 QBs could leave and MF's no-TP QB statement can still be true... But that would be pre-QB exodus. Post-QB exodus, he can say, well now I have no choice... To the portal we go!

Speaking of which, I will be watching tonight's game to see how this QB shining star does for Tulane. I wonder if he would even think about hitting the portal when Tulane took a chance on him so likely to stay at least another year.

If their head coach jumps to NC, bet he does too
I wonder if Sumrall would rather jump to his alma mater Kentucky where he played linebacker. He was on Stoops' staff and things have been rough the last few years at UK.

If you're going to jump to a basketball school, may as well be your SEC alma mater.

Sumrall has been an HC for all of three seasons. There is considerable risk for both parties considering UNC has never been good at football and Sumrall is a greener HC compared to other candidates.
