Post-Season baseball story:
Yesterday, I left work at 10:15 because I had a doctor's appointment. I was undecided on if I was going to back to work afterwards and I told my supervisor that I wouldnt be back. I wanted to get some stuff done at home before the Phillies came on. When I got back home my wrist was killing me because the doctor gave me a cortisone shot in it. Its about 3:00.
I throw on my Hallday t-shirt and my Phils sweatshirt. I live in a few blocks from Center City in Philly--I had to walk about 7 blocks to drop off something and then I walked to CVS to grab a some Aleve and brace. On my way out of there, I walked accross the street and walked past a pretty good bar/restaurant and there were a few seats at the bar. I wanted to stop in and grab a beer because I know the bartender and they have this Pumking beer on tap that I like. I was going to drink one and then head home. I ask for it and she's like "Sorry, it just kicked." I didnt want to seem like a tool so I just ordered something else. I know a few people and started talking to them- one beer turned to 2 which turned to 3. It was about 4:35 and that Rangers/Rays game was absolutely dragging.
The place is starting to fill up and the atmosphere inside the bar is steadily improving. Its pretty much shoulder-to-shoulder but I have a prime-time seat. So i was thinking "ok,Ill watch the first few innings here and then head back." It was the 2nd inning and I said jokingly to the people around me "Halladay perfect thru 2". I then said "I'm gonna leave as soon as he gives up a hit." I ended up not leaving until 9:15.......
A quick stop thru CVS turned into a No-hitter. The game was incredible and the atmosphere inside was electric from the 7th inning on, especially with the final out. Something I'll never forget.
