First great road win in a loooong time. A&M will probably lose 4-5 games this year but this team still showed lots of guts. At the very least we know the defense is elite

Idk if you guys like film and all that, but on that last drive, I think Denbrock went to a couple of playcalls and run concepts he hadn’t run yet.

Those back shoulder fades to Beaux were things we hadn’t tried.

On the TD run they let Sam pin down on the DT and they pulled Schrauth (who didn’t do shit) to kick out, but then they also pulled Flanagan who really didn’t block anyone, but his body got in the way of the LB scraping down into the gap.

We hadn’t run that yet. It was a really good play and the entire drive he went into some simpler concepts that allowed a young OL to do what they’re comfortable with.

Mitchel Evans was quiet.
Defense did their job and then some on turnovers.
Anthony K was really good in pass pro, no? I can't tell in run blocking. OL overall held their own in pass pro.
Penalties were huge and on Freeman. Have to fix that in practice.
Beaux Collins played man ball.
Happy Devon Ford is on the team. Selfless man and clearly trusted.

That was a culture win. Our guys believed all night and played/encouraged each other. A&M doesn't yet have the culture. Elko will get them there.

Mike Mickens is going to make the jump to head coach after this year, not defensive coordinator, btw. Elite recruiter now, elite production. If ND somehow wins it all this year, he nearly deserves a statue more than anyone else on this staff. That's no knock on Golden, Freeman whoever. He's just that damn good.

That truly said it all. They grew in that game & that moment showed the growth. Still a lot more reps needed but hopefully they’re good enough to give the O a chance in every game.
