The worst part is he'll keep this job as long as he wants it. Administration cares even less about winning than he does. What a terrible off-season.

So here's the thing.
I grew up in a family where you were a ND fan or you were out of the family.
I loved ND football before I started watching the NFL.
I'm a Steelers fan because they traded for Bettis as I started watching the NFL.
I have come to accept that the current administration has no interest in continuing that which put ND on the map.
In 50 years ND football will be dead at this rate.
And then the administration will be begging for funding because damnit they made all the moves to be the Stanford of the mid west. Why aren't kids flocking to South Bend?
I'll bleed blue and gold until I die and still watch every Saturday.
Hopefully I'm dead before we become another University of Chicago though.

Overall, it really wasn't, but like recruiting classes everyone locks in on how it finished and who/what they didn't get versus what it was and what they got.
Bowl win, top ten class, good portal should not be ignored despite all the NIL and Ludwig garbage.

The thing here is Hartman makes or breaks this. Hopefully the Parker hire doesn't compromise anything, but it's certainly understandable if it did.

I would tend to agree. Not much of anything good in that response. Even if we give him the benefit of the doubt on the body of the response, the request for funds capper was a brutal ending.

To me it actually shows a lot of weakness on his part. Just shows the pressure and smack talk from the little guys like us and the media got to him enough that he thought he needed to justify himself with a response. Personally, if I were the AD of Notre Dame, I would be too big time to think that I had to justify the decision I make to the public. If it was leaked, so what. That's what happens nowadays, deal with it.
The major problem with this job is that it needs to treat the football program like the Alabama's, Ohio St.'s and Texas's do. It is literally football then everything else. 75 - 80% of resources need to be dumped into ensuring that the football program is elite. If football isn't elite at ND, nothing is elite, imo it's literally that simple. I get it, Title IX and all that jazz, but that's just the nature of the beast. I didn't make the rules, but it's time that ND starts to play by them. I know we've been saying it for years and it'll never happen.

Feels like an overreaction IMO. Yes this has been a really shitty week, shittiest in a long time but c'mon now lol. Why does every time something bad happens it turn into some universal threat to ND football?

Love Bill King. Who is Brad Powers? I heard King reference his website. He seemed to know quite a bit about ND & their history w/ poor handling of public relations. Didn’t like hearing that the “Sam Hartman camp is not happy” so wonder how dialed in this Powers guy is.

Yep. Shut up. Don't justify or over explain. Certainly don't blast out a defensive-sounding lecture and then ask for money. Just do what you can to make the best of this unfortunate situation, learn from it, and move forward.
Personally I've always been a Swarbrick fan. I think he has navigated Notre Dame through some very tricky waters in college sports in recent years, and somehow turned Kelly's embarrassing departure into a win by hiring Freeman. All of which makes what has gone on since Rees left all the more baffling. It has been mistake after mistake, and it's unlike him.
Either way, Notre Dame football will survive. I for one was present for the entire decade of the 2000s and, wow, there were some dark times. This is nothing.

Yep he is on Fridays during the season to give his picks and pitch his services. I've never known him to have inside info and frankly he isn't usually asked for it. Bill usually has the actual "insiders" on for that stuff, i.e. people from 247, On3, etc.
