A 4 star will be coming aboard soon. A little bit of a surprise considering the pace that it all went down. I think he will be a very good player for ND but a year on the bench will help him. It should be public within a week. It is a very nice pick up by our staff. With this pick up there has to be somebody moving positions. Don't get pissed off because I didn't say who it was because I said I wouldn't. I just wanted the 4HL members to be expecting some good news.

I totally trust my source on this one. He was told by the horses mouth and he passed it on to me around 2:00. If for some crazy reason this deal doesn't go down then something went sideways sometime after I was told. My source is crazy close to this deal but I am not. I can't control what the kid does from this point forward but as of right now he is 100% IRISH!!!

I just don't get it. If you have a source, just spit it out and tell who it is! If I knew a player was going to commit, IE would be the second place to know and I would definitely tell the source.

Rivals lists both Welch and James as 4 star.

If we're playing Clue, Welch in the Gug with a LOI seems likely.

Last night when I was reading the Welch articles I kept wondering if this was a replay of the Kai Forbath/Ryan Burkhart and the Dustin Hopkins/Nick Tausch sagas. In both those cases ND had offered a higher ranked prospect and when they did not commit on somebody's timetable (considerably before NSD) ND offered another recruit who dreamed of a gold helmet and pounced on the offer. I kept looking for an announcement that Fiedorowicz had verballed to OSU fully realizing that neither kicker had made a public announcement.

Yesterday I was struck by Olaniyan quoting Powlus to be patient, ND takes a longer time. Sometimes it doesn't seem the recruit gets the same window of opportunity to decide.


Probably no correlation. Just coincidences or random events.

I've been a part of a few that have died off and they all end the same way...

1. People begin to make things completely up; like who is committing and "inside sources say"...there is always speculation on message boards and that is part of the fun but the last few weeks people claiming to "know people" have just created things up from thin air.

2. Then someone claiming to be the great defender and local tough guy (through the miracle of made up usernames and a 1,000 miles) tells others to get out outta here and off the board...quickly this gets the feel of the former www.thegipper.net...which completely imploded.

For those of you who care I hope this stops but I get the feeling that a hand full of idiots are trying to kill it...again alot like the above mention site; and that is a shame.

The original poster in this thread put up a post from another poster. He didn't claim inside information. I took his post as take it for what it's worth - a rumor. I think the rest of it read that way as well.

As for boards going down a slippery slope that's the job of the moderators/owner. There was a thread within the past week here that a moderator issued a warning about some ad hominem attacks and when they persisted he acted. That's his judgement.

Based on the caveats in this thread your post strikes me as an overreaction. Feel free to cite the threads and people on this board that "have just made things up" about recruiting.

It's your allegation, substantiate it.

dude the thread title says "Supposedly" we have a commit, meaning I'm passing info someone else says and sharing it with IE. As far as other threads you've mentioned, ND=NC did have pretty good info before the last thread he made that got flamed big time here. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

I'm sorry I came down hard on you, but you came down on someone else pretty hard about him passing on information that he had gotten from his source. You have to step back and realize that this is, for all intent and purpose, a message board for people who do thier best to let the rest of the world know what is going on all ND football, without having the resources of Rivals, and Scout, or BlueandGold.com for that matter. I don't ever put too much stock into someone who says that they have a source, but am grateful that someone has any info to pass on at all that I don't have to spend money on. If I were a patient man, I would wait a day or two after to read it in the local paper, but, it turns out that I'm not as patient as my wife thinks I am. Just try to relax about what others are trying to let the rest of us know about.

Personally, I think false info is even more fun that real info. You get to watch Wabash with his troll smashing club, NDOM puts down the pipe long enough to get in a few zingers, ACamp always has some gems, and Neutered...don't even get me started on what Neutered is capable of.
