Some guidance on what you're interested in doing would be helpful.

I love AZ, but August is perhaps the worst month in which to visit. I'd go somewhere tropical, personally. Big fan of Grand Cayman.

I'm interested in drinking fruity drinks, leaving my cell phone in the room, and sitting in the sun.

I would not recommend anywhere in Mexico these days. Cozumel might still be okay, but I wouldn't risk it. Princess Cruise lines (you know, the Love Boat) just cancelled all their Mexican stops due to safety concerns. It is a war zone there now and I wouldn't feel safe going anywhere in Mexico.

I had a blast in the Bahamas. Gorgeous down there. Drank lots of Kalik beer. It looks cheesy, but the Atlantis hotel and casino on Paradise Island is actually really fun. Lots to do or don't do anything at all.

Scottsdale might be a good idea then. You can get great deals at any resort in town since this is our off-season. Just keep up with the sunscreen and slip into the pool frequently.

Though if you're not looking for a deal, I'd prefer a high of 85 with a slight Caribbean breeze on the beach in Grand Cayman to a high of 110 in Scottsdale.

I know that Carnival Cruises are offering some really affordable cruises and I will be taking one in December but the one I am taking will be 5 days. These cruises start at about $189 so you can't beat the price. Another idea is something that I did a few years back and that was fly to Punta Cana, Dominican Rep. I stayed at an all-inclusive resort Breezes I believe) and had the time of my life. It was relatively inexpensive and included all the food and drink you could ever want. Alot of activities were offered as well and they had the best beach and pool that I had seen in quite a long time.

The Vineyard is the only place I would go during a vacation in August. Edgartown, specifically.

Alaskan glacier cruise?

I would go to the Caribbean. Rum drinks, hotties in bikinis, beautiful sea.

I've been to the Bahamas, Grand Cayman, and St Lucia.

I think I'm leaning towards Cayman, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

Terry I would go to the Grand Caymons. My father has owned a condo in the Cayman Islands since 1980. An absolutely blast to go on vacation with Rum Point and 7 Mile Beach. Great place to go snorkeling.

The North coast of the dominican republic---the amber coast--is nothing short of spectacular---100's of kilometers of sand --backed by mountains---the little town of sosua has some great hotels---the samana penninsula at the extreme end of the north coast--the puerto rican side-- has some of the best water and beaches in the world.---Exotic and beautiful--friendly & fun.

Scottdale in Aug...would not be a good thing unless you like 120 degree weather.

I would go on a cruise to the Caymanes via RoyalCaribbean...

Summer's already hot, why go somewhere hot then? It all depends on what you want to do. Camping in the BWCA in Minnesota is tough to beat if you're into the outdoors.

100 degrees and 50% humidity: Sauna City!

My wife, her sister and I were just in South Bend a couple of days ago, and we're driving her parents' van when suddenly we ran out of gas! Little more than half a mile from the gas station, I said screw it, I'll push the car there. BIG MISTAKE!!! I'm a SoCal boy, and I'm just not used to all that damn humidity, and 2 minutes into the push I'm dripping sweat. My wife's athletic but pregnant, so no way she could help, and her sister has a bad back and I didn't want to ask her.

But after a quarter of a mile pushing that behemoth of a van in 90 degree weather with a crapload of humidity, I friggin' needed help LOL. Her sis helped, and then a good sameritan (sp) got out of his car and lent a hand/saved my life. Gotta love midwesterners and their good hearts.

TT, go where there is water!!! Just came back from Burt lake up near Lake Michigan, and had a great time hanging in the lake, doing water activities that I can never do in the ocean. Got to visit Petoskey, and Harbor City as well, cool little places I'd never been. But since you're living much larger than me, the Caymans sounds like a winner! Have fun wherever you go!

I went on a cruise this past January to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and Cozumel, Mexico. It was for 7days, by far one of the best decisions I ever made.

The only part that sucked was when the cruise went to dock at The Cayman Islands, they couldn't because the waves were too high and they don't have a real dock. So we could not get off. But either way the leisure of the cruise and sun were great. In Cozumel they had an excursion you could buy for around $60 that allowed you to drink as much as you want with no cost (except the $60) and play on a variety of water toys.

Jamaica, mon! Get a nice AI resort and sit back and enjoy those fruity drinks and some beautiful beach and sunshine time. Plus, the locals are really friendly!

Montreal is SICK... for single guys. I went there for a bachelor party and it was insane. I would suggest Puerto Rico for you and your lady friend. The resorts are georgous and Old San Juan is a really cool town to visit during the day.

Just got back from a few days in Bar Harbor Maine. Local micro brews, fresh lobster, beer battered onion rings, ocean temp of 55 degrees after a great hike, views from Cadillac Mtn. Can't beat it. Oh yeah and oceanside temps of 78. Fly into Portland and grab a rental car.
