A player will transfer if it's in their best interest. ND doesn't need ~ four RB3's all within a year of each other. That's poor roster stacking (Thanks Denson).

It would be in ND's best interest if at least 1 did. But if the players choose not to - more power to them. I'm not wishing it on any individual RB, but ND would benefit if 1/2 did, IMO.

It sure reads like you are.

I'm hoping we get 2 transfers from the RB group, Avery Davis and one of C'bo or Smith.

ND would benefit from a transfer(s) from that group. I'm not saying "I hope it's Avery he's worthless". Im just saying that group has too many of the same age, same boat and ND would benefit.

Or think I'm a bad person, IDC.

I'm pretty sure ISD tells posters not to say stuff like that. Be better than that koon

ND could use 1/2 transferas from the RB group among the RBs who are all within 1 year of each other and haven't distinguished themselves at all.

Hopefully that's acceptable. Because it's true.

There's a reason they're looking for an outside transfer.

5. Why are so many sports being eliminated?

The decision to discontinue these 11 varsity sports programs comes down primarily to finances and competitive excellence. With so many sports and limited financial resources, we would no longer be able to support a world-class athletics experience for our student-athletes without making these changes.

these cut announcements are basically just cries for donors to step in and open their wallets. i doubt many of these in the end, do get cut.

The announcement said team specific fundraising won't bring back the teams. Maybe if they can get a couple billion directed at the athletic department they might be able to keep them, but it seems like just raising some short term money isn't going to do it.

I think they will. These sports don't make money and while most sports are funded by the FB & BB programs, COVID could effect their lousy FB attendance even more. I'm going to miss the synchronized swimming.

Really sucks for the wrestling team. Was starting to get some elite young studs.

If any of these kids were on some type of partial/full whatever type scholly, wonder what happens?? Can they transfer and not miss out on one year/season?

I'm sure they could transfer and not miss a season. Problem is not a lot of D1 teams to begin with, and I'm guessing they went to Stanford for the education and the rare full ride. Not sure that's available anywhere else right now.

Stanford has 36 varsity sports teams, which is a huge number.

For comparison, Wikipedia tells me that ND has 13.

That is just BS. I’m guessing, but I assume Stanford is sitting on a multi billIon dollar endowment. You mean they can’t suck up a 1 year loss for these teams. I would say the same thing if ND started cutting sports. Back when a Title IX was instituted, there were not enough women at ND to bring on more women’s teams to match the men. That resulted in wrestling being cut. I don’t remember what other men’s sports were cut. Hopefully ND is not short sighted and Greedy and start cutting sports.

Bill C broke down the Cardinal today.

he left out the probability of going 0-0. Pretty damn high I would think.

Listening to Doug Gottlieb, he mentioned endowments are almost always strictly for academics and no money goes to athletics. Many have provisions that prohibit endowment funds from being used for athletics, excluding the scholarship money of course. So whatever money they need for facilities, uniforms, gear, travel, etc. has to be raised.

isn't the OC position at Stanford endowed in the name of Andrew Luck or something?

With the grad transfer of Sanders, I have them at 84 total scholarship. I am also counting the renewal of the scholarship for Noah Williams, previously a walk-on. Shaw likes to award scholarships to walk-ons, so the last one may go to one of those.

Of all their graduate transfers, only two former walk-ons there did not transfer to any school. Shaw said early in the process, he would welcome any Senior back if they want to return.

Currently, their 2021 Class has five verbal commits, last in the PAC-12. Last year's class was twenty-six. Eleven Seniors will use up their eligibility this year. I have their Junior class at 15, including Sanders. Eleven of those are from the Class of 2017 and redshirted one year.
