Or Trevor Speights
Can’t find anything on him from last year. Redshirt?
Or Trevor Speights
Cameron Scarlett?
Cameron Scarlett?
Trevor Speights. 3.8 yard per carry and missed the entire season last year due to injury. Why is this guy even an option? What am I missing here?

ND may have an injured RB right now and another may switch/semi switch positions to WR

I mean, I'd take him.
What? You feeling okay? This is exactly the type of guy you typically go off on the staff about.
Why are we bringin in damaged goods?
This guy's just a 3 star.
Just what we need another back that can't even average 4 yds per carry.
are we assuming Davis is going to WR and not Jafar?
Any word on who the injured RB is? If it's rumor that isn't allowed on the main board - put in a rep comment.
This guy was extremely productive in TX high school football. 9,868 yards, 114 TDs in the highest classification.
Redshirted as a freshman, and no one was really going to take carries away from Bryce Love during '17 or '18. Scarlett seemed to be ahead of Speights on the depth chart in '17 and '18, but who knows how their touches would have been split last year.
Looking at our depth chart, we have no feature back. We'll try to get Tyree touches in space, but who's getting the bulk of the carries?
Jafar? Hopefully the abdominal injury was seriously holding him back, because he looked awful. Would rather him just move to WR if he's as unnatural of a RB as he looked last year.
C'Bo? Runs hard, but is small, slow, poor vision. Maybe he can keep the short yardage role.
Jahmir? Flashes sometimes, but not often enough. It's true that he looks like the most natural back out of him Jafar and C'Bo, but he got dropped in the backfield an awful lot IIRC.
Kyren? Thought it was kind of a rough deal for him to have effectively been benched for the entire season after dropping one pass in the first game. Have moderate expectations for him.
Avery? Tough luck, but the guy has no position.
If Speights was one of our returning backs? I'd probably rate him higher than Jafar, C'Bo and Avery, and arguably higher than Jahmir and Kyren. For one year, don't see the harm.
Was really hoping this was going to be a CB...
Probably correct. But what I'm saying is Armstrong is a natural WR and would be better used as a WR. If the staff feel comfortable with Smith, C-Bo, Kyren, Tyree and Davis at RB going into the season than Jafar can move to WR and move to RB in an emergency.I don't see Jafar moving to WR. He's probably our starting RB next year, granted it'll be by a small margin.
Speights didn’t play as a frosh or as a senior so he has two years to play two. This would not be a one year rental.
He’s 5’9” approx 200 lbs. he hasn’t done much in college. Had some nice P5 offers and is now looking for the right fit athletically & academically to showcase his services for the NFL yet walk away with some impressive degrees for post-football.
Lance Taylor is the key here. He recruited him to Stanford and knows the family well. I don’t see any other contenders for Speights so I suspect the RB group will grow by one for the time being.
This is where I'm at. There should be enough RB's on the roster next year that will allow Armstrong to go back to his natural position of WR. WR is where I would like to see Jafar at next year. Doesn't mean we won't see him on end arounds and jet sweeps.
Jahmir did get dropped in the backfield often. Part of the reason is i think he was a little hesitant at times. But the majority of the reason was he was running behind the second string OL which looked horrible and had no cohesion.
Kyren got benched for dropping a pass? my understanding was that it was a mutual decision by the coaches and himself to red shirt for the season. Keep in mind he was on KR team for 4 games...
Why don't you think Jafar would see reps at WR? To crowded at WR position? Don't think he has the skill set? Not talented enough? Just curious.I don't think Jafar would see reps at WR. I do think he'll get significant work at RB.
If we're being honest, Avery Davis probably doesn't get reps at either. So if you have to move someone and he's willing, I'd move Davis, personally, because then Jafar can still impact the offense.
I'm hoping Avery Davis can somehow get the PR1 role, so he can feel like he's a serious contributor to this team. It's too bad he's had to move so much because he cannot find a spot.

That's not how redshirting works. You have five years to play four. It doesn't matter if there are multiple years where a player doesn't play, unless those years are both due to injury and the player is granted a 6th year.
You get five years to play four and he has been at Stanford for 4 years. He is now a one and done.
I mean, I'd take him.
I'm hoping we get 2 transfers from the RB group, Avery Davis and one of C'bo or Smith.
*Disclaimer -- No reason at all to believe any particular RB is looking to transfer, but these things just happen when you have a boat load of RBs and none of them have proven themselves*
Hey Koon, don't say you're that you're hoping guys transfer and name names. That's pretty shitty.
