2. I know Adams had an ACL in his JR of HS that he seemed to recover fully from. He wasted no time becoming a weapon on offense when injuries struck in 2015. Even amid a turd of a season last year, Adams put up big numbers and broke some big runs vs some good defenses. Either he is too banged up to be a factor or he has worn all the tread off his tires. I have to think it’s the former unless there’s some additional injury history I’m not aware of. Think back to the season finales in 2015 & 2016. He excelled in both of them and broke off some huge runs while racking up 168 yds @ Stanford and
180 yds @ SC. Keep in mind, he only had as many as 20 carries once in each season. He only hit 20 twice this season w/ 27 vs NCST & 20 in another game. Hopefully he can rest up for the bowl. If not & he’s no better then he should forego the bowl and let Dexter, Tony & Deon get the carries.
3. I’m not ready to say Long was a mistake. If the players, namely the QB, can’t execute the plays he calls, how can we properly judge Long? Look at the RPO vs Stanford...BW should’ve clearly opted to hit Stepherson with the quick pass to the boundary. Instead, he hands the ball off to Adams despite four defenders closing in.
4. I think most ND fans have concluded that Wimbush’s problem is between his ears. When local & national media declare that Brandon can make every pass in practice, what other conclusion is there to draw after 12 games in 2017 & three seasons at ND? My cynical side tells me the fanbase will be filled with hope as BW has a month to work on getting better. Then, I’m afraid, the doubt creeps back in as the opposing D brings pressure. I predict an open QB comp in the Spring.
6. Shaw would never come to ND IMO. In fact, as a Stanford alum & former player, I doubt he ever leaves for another college gig. His next stop, if anym will be the NFL...which I would love to see ASAP.
3. Long called several run plays on third down that were questionable. Some were RPO and some were not. Given your QB is making some questionable reads on RPO's then why even call those on third down? The quick throw for the WR screen is one BW struggled with all year. Why call it? Where is the TE over the middle. Pretty much MIA most of the season.
6. I agree. I was just mentioning him because there are a lot of Shaw haters on this board, yet his bad years are no worse than 9-3.
