That looks great.
Are those actually from the university or were they just made by a fan?
I don't think they'd do a rennovation so soon after the most recent one was done.

I am assuming those things up top are press boxes? Love the idea of a video board. I don't think we need to add any logos or designs or **** to the field, just get fake turf. Now of course, none of these additions HAVE to be made to Notre Dame Stadium, as it is a fine stadium. As long as they don't get rid of my beloved wooden bleachers, I am a happy man.

It was the work of a lone fan with an animation program, he just wanted to do a little rendition of what he thought would appease both the traditionalists while remaining current compared to other major powers

Fund it!!!!

Though the problem still lies that enlarging the bowl and not adding a second deck there still is a significant amount of noise crowd lost.

It really preserves the look of the stadium if you just expand the bowl. Adding a second deck wouldn't do that. Plus the suites would bring In a lot of money as well as keeping noise in (I.e michigans stadium).

perhaps that would also get of the "sweater crowd" problem? give them a cushy suite and give those tickets over to the student section! (they already have the upper 3/4 of the 50 yd line)

All true.

Though I have read on other forums, that the older crowd who attends Irish games along side the ushers try to keep the crowd noise somewhat subdued. Is there any truth to these rumors?

yes. whenever i've been to games there have been a few older people in my section calling over the ushers to quiet a fan or get him to sit down. it's a disgrace to the game of football. it was a close game too and half of the people in my section were sitting down and being quiet on crucial third down plays.

it's also in stark contrast to all of the browns games i've been to in my life. no one sits down or shuts up.

This fuels the absolute need to expand to 100,000 +. The stadium needs noise and the university will benefit with the revenue aspect.

.

That stinks. I live in Eugene Oregon and I am pretty sure the ushers would get beat to death if they told the fans they needed to be quiet in Autzen stadium.

You'll probably have one of those additions be a press box. The others? High end Lux boxes. MASSIVE cashflow to the program and the school. Massive.

On a side note... I did make my first donation as an alumni to Wabash today....

I'm getting old.

I've been to games at both Notre Dame as well as Sanford Stadium (UGA).

Fans don't SIT during the game there! Everybody stands the entire game!

The guy that designed that said this removed ~5000 seats, but more money would be made from the luxury suites.

It's a very nice design though, I like seeing what a video screen looks like in there.

But we know the school isn't going to renovate less than 15 years after the last renovation.

If they do a major renovation to the stadium like this they should all have their asses kicked. Having visited ND stadium for the first time last year, it is without a doubt the most beautiful venue in all of college football. The fact there are real wooden benches, no Jumbotron, no scrolling advertising billboards, not outlets to fuel ADD or bloated luxury suites made for an outstanding football experience.

When you go to the stadium, there literally is nothing to do but watch football and get immersed in what is going on down on the field. I would never, I repeat NEVER, want to see modern additions to the stadium that would cause the experience to be cheapened. Nor would it be a good thing for the corporate crowd to come in and take up space schmoozing high profile clients in luxury suites while their guests lazily watch the game and eat gourmet food. What the hell is that? They want to do that, go to a pro game. Stay the hell away from the best shrine of all that is right with the football world.

I'm glad your one visit has given you enough to make this decision.

ND Stadium needs luxury boxes and a jumbotron. More importantly the seats need to be more uncomfortable to force people to stand. Make them spiky or something.

All this talk is the same type of stuff that was going on when they expanded the stadium. Everyone was worried that they would ruin the experience and mess up the tradition. I went to school there when it was still the old stadium and have been back many times since it expanded. The experience is even better now with the exapnsion and my guess is that if they decide to do something else they will keep all the tradition and experiences that you currently have while adding new features that make it better. They know what they are doing.

This is a great idea, I say that we go one step further and rip out the benches forcing the standing. Those old bastards would still find a way to sit on the spikes.
