Wow.

I'm sure every major program dances very closely around these rules, but when a handful of your players want to go to the media about it, thats not good. If their alumni, students and players weren't such tremendous asshats all the time, I'd be temped to feel badle for them.

I look forward to an investigation, I liked our program a lot more when we were able to look down at dirty programs knowing we were the definition of a clean program.

According to SportsCenter, the university has already begun an investigation.

All I heard yesterday was, "Oh, they're not going to investigate. Nothing is going to happen. I mean, come on, we're Michigan." from Michigan fans.

I wonder what the excuse is going to be today.

Is this another sign from the heavens?

This could provide a MAJOR distraction for Michigan in the coming weeks...when they play us.

This can't be good for recruiting. They probably don't read the paper where RRod has been recruiting anyway. Rich we hardly knew ya'.

Does anybody else think R-Rod could be unemployed after this season? Michigan has a legitimate shot at having another losing season.

I would think that they would give him at least one more year after this one. That may not be the case if the recent violations prove to be a big hit on the recruiting trail but we'll have to wait and see. I would love to see him go though.

As much as I HATE scUM... any head coach needs five years to install their system and construct a roster slanted toward their particular system.

...you will prolly have some clue as to how the university thinks of RichRod by how they deal with this current situation; If the university makes a big deal of it, it doesnt look good for him. if they see it as a non-issue, then he is prolly safe. which ever way it plays out, it doesnt look good at any level.

Now is when CW and his crew should be making a run at those potential michigan recruits.

I kinda think its going to be a small issue, nothing that gets RichRod fired (although, if the university wants to get rid of him, now is a 'perfect excuse' time to fire him)

I like the way they crow that they "got the last laugh" - by beating WMU. Then we hear: "Yeah, but it was a WAC school."

If the WAC sucks so bad - why'd Robert Smith drink the Mark May kool-aid and predict an Irish loss?

What did Mark May say when he was so very wrong? I didn't catch his exchange with Lou, but it sounds like it would be entertaining.

Mark May was his usual smug self.

Basically saying Nevada had the worst pass defense in the country period

Then Lou asked "then why did you pick them to win?"

Mark May repeated only louder, the worst pass defense period

I want them to continue doubting ND and favoring their opponents.

It will make them look silly and less credible in the long run and motivate the team even more

Not true at all. Robert Smith is brilliant. His HOBBIES include studying medicine and astronomy. He's a very learned man. I has no problem with him picking Nevada, because they were forced to pick an upset, and he went out on a limb ans said Nevada. Not everybody that picks against ND HATES Notre Dame. Judging from some of our performances the last couple of years, picking an upset over ND isn't so far-fetched. If you were an analyst, you'd be paid to pick winners and losers. And you'd be paid to pick upsets. No matter what you do, someone is going to be pissed and take potshots at you. Saying Robert Smith is a stupid f*** who couldn't get a scholly to ND couldn't be further from the truth.

As for Mark May, I agree completely. All he does is pick against ND. There's a major difference between he and Smith...

if you look back at the comments made by Robert Smith, I think it was more than picking an upset. The vibe I got from his comments was that Notre Dame was and is ALWAYS overrated, and Nevada had too many 1000 yard rushers, and that the QB was a far superior athlete that ND would not be able to contain.

Picking against ND, I believe it was a biased opinion. I know of 3 ppl that picked Nevada: MArk May, Robert Smith, and Petros Papadakis. My reply to them picking Nevada(and HAW) is that they were on the wrong end of 35-0 blowout. All these guys are known for picking against ND, and that is fine, but when your an analyst, and keep being on the wrong side of a 35-0, 49-21 blowouts.....your biased opinion is getting in the way of your analytical skills.

I like how Lou went after MArk May...."Then why did you pick Nevada????"

(because it was a biased pick, not an analytical pick)
If they analyzed the situation, they would have to address that Nevada was not prepared to deal with ND in the passing game. Any non-biased person saw that before the NEV game. lo and behold, NEV could not hang with ND passing game. Jimmy Clausen looked like he did in HS. Im no football analyst, but I think a trained monkey with simple process of elimination skills could deduce that NEV was going to give up big pass yards all day to ND.

Didn't see the Smith quotes, but I believe you.

My whole point is that the poster calling Robert Smith a 'stupid **** and unable to get into ND' was completely off-base. Dude's incredibly smart. And I don't get all pissed off when people pick against ND. I mean, how much fun would it be if the entire world was a ND fan, and kissed our asses every day? People have the right to their educated opinions. Now, Mark May is different, because he picks against ND just to hate. I loved when Lou came back at him, and then he started stuttering and avoiding the question...

I agree with what you are saying, but Robert Smith hates ND. He may be a genious, but he hates us. Its fine, he is entitled to his opinion, but he has been taking shots at us for years.

When we were 10-1 in 2006 going into the USC game and had an outside shot to get into the BCS Championship Game (alot had to happen, but I think we were like 6th going into USC) I swear he was about to have a heart attack. Literally screaming on TV about what a sham that would be. He is paid to be objective, and he clearly isnt.

NO! NO! NO!

None of them are paid to be objective. They're paid for ratings. They promote controversy.

Look at the Maisel article, there's a huge audience of ND haters. And unfortunatley a large audience of ND fans that tune in just to let Mark May pull their hair.
