if you look back at the comments made by Robert Smith, I think it was more than picking an upset. The vibe I got from his comments was that Notre Dame was and is ALWAYS overrated, and Nevada had too many 1000 yard rushers, and that the QB was a far superior athlete that ND would not be able to contain.
Picking against ND, I believe it was a biased opinion. I know of 3 ppl that picked Nevada: MArk May, Robert Smith, and Petros Papadakis. My reply to them picking Nevada(and HAW) is that they were on the wrong end of 35-0 blowout. All these guys are known for picking against ND, and that is fine, but when your an analyst, and keep being on the wrong side of a 35-0, 49-21 blowouts.....your biased opinion is getting in the way of your analytical skills.
I like how Lou went after MArk May...."Then why did you pick Nevada????"
(because it was a biased pick, not an analytical pick)
If they analyzed the situation, they would have to address that Nevada was not prepared to deal with ND in the passing game. Any non-biased person saw that before the NEV game. lo and behold, NEV could not hang with ND passing game. Jimmy Clausen looked like he did in HS. Im no football analyst, but I think a trained monkey with simple process of elimination skills could deduce that NEV was going to give up big pass yards all day to ND.
