Do we think Vernon will be an option at DT? Obviously not first year. I was just wondering with all the weight he’s cut if he can carry enough good weight to be a factor at DT.

He could be but we are all hoping he develops explosion/power instead of bulk and is a devastating strong side defensive end.
He was rated above Keeley for a long time.I think he was a top 10 recruit 18 month ago.

Liking our roster for next year. Hopefully we can make a run at a 14th Natty.(25th claimed and unclaimed.

Good job. Sorry for a critique, its coming from a good place! Some friendly updates and suggested changes:

With DJ Brown’s return, current total roster count at 94.
-list currently missing LS Vinson for GS 6th year

5 QBs
6 RBs
10 WRs
6 TEs
18 OL
16 DL
11 LB
17 DB (Hillman starting career here)
5 Specialist
=94

Some semantics…
-Class corrections: transfer Kaleb Smith is 6th year GS not senior, transfer Thomas Harper is a GS not a senior, Kevin BAUMAN (spelling) is a senior not a junior, Michael Carmody is a senior not a sophomore, Andrew Kristofic is a GS not a senior, Cam Hart is a GS not a senior, and Spencer Shrader is a GS not a senior.
-RS corrections: Tyree, Mills, Botelho, Henderson, Lewis and all seniors have COVID RS…..and Jayden Thomas, Blake Fisher, Will Schweitzer, Josh BURNHAM (spelling) have a traditional RS….. Tobias Merriweather didn’t RS as he played in 7 games
-Correct that Raridon is a true soph, no RS. Injured after 5 games — As deep a position as it’s been, interesting only 1 TE has a RS.
-LS Alex Peitsch is a Senior with a RS
-Braylon James and Sam Pendleton not marked as Blue?
-If RS next to GS Howard Cross…other 5th years could also return for 6th year include: Correll, Kristofic, NaNa, Bertrand, Kiser, Liufau, Hart
-And a quick position thought: Schweitzer and Zinter as Vyper? JR (and Sneed) did play some this year so if projecting it could be any number of players but those guys seem like LBs. According to beat, Schweitzer transitioned from DL to LB after injury 1 and was seen practicing there before injury 2…likely won’t matter (see below)
-Buck is called Will LB now and Bowen has been interviewed stating the staff want him to start career there

And lastly some projections of my own. As the staff is looking for DL or two and has offered another WR (Andrel Anthony), likely 10+ transfers to get to 85.
-Powlus, Payne/Tyree, Carmody/Baker, Johnson, Schweitzer, Riley, Barnes, Walters for 8
4 QBs and 5 RBs and 16 OL makes more sense. Lots of buried DBs. From there however, maybe a DL or WR which would be unfortunate.

Zero chance this roster can make a run that high. Not with this D Line.
We have 16 DL on scholarship and you are sure they are all going to suck so bad that they are going to cost a chance at a Natty this year and this is even before Spring practice or we even know for sure who will be on the roster for 2023? Damn thats a hell of a prognostication. Do you do lottery numbers as well?

Was there any doubt Rubio would be back?

No. I dont know what NDFAN2008 was talking about. Maybe one poster at what time thought it could be happen, but the transfer speculation has always centered around Aidan K when it comes to the DL.

Ausberry is tiny. Packages only for this guy?

Rico looks to be of size that he could see field right away as well.

AUSBERRY COULD MOVE TO SAFETY IF NEEDED
Ausberry could be a starter in nickel+ He is incredibly fluid or at least his high school film shows that. I'm hopeful he can play that hybrid safety/LB role so we can run nickel/4-2-5 and he's one of the 5 but it's almost like a 4-3 given his LB ability.

All this to say, I think Ausberry is special athletically and I'm hoping his mental game is strong because he could be a huge part of our defense in the coming years.

Plus we are deeper at LB than safety so I wouldn't mind it Ausberry has good coverage skills

Ishaq Williams is the last #1 I can remember. These receivers should have to take up the 80s first. Nobody wants Jerry Rice 82 or Megatron 81 anymore I guess.
