What's the full list of rumors on how this investigation started?

Ryan Day hired a former FBI agent as a private investigator
Law enforcement found information on Weiss's computer
Law enforcement found information on the computer of the staffer who got To Catch a Predator-ed
A former Michigan coach was a whistleblower
Vegas got suspicious and launched an investigation

I know I'm missing some.

If this was all operated by the boosters wouldn't that help Michigan? Because the boosters arent directly affiliated with the University itself.

I agree overall but the pace of this invetigation has been compartively swifter than others we've seen in recent years. This situation is just unique b/c these morons got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. The NCAA recognizes the potential embarassment of allowing them to enjoy the cookie (win a title) only to force them to regurgitate it later (vacate it).

Given the constraints of the appeals process, the NCAA's options for penalizing them this season are limited, and they know it. I think once they recognized Michigan was unwilling to voluntarily remove themselves from anything significant this season, they chose to put pressure on them through the BIG and media. Their willingness to act swiftly and apply pressure in various ways has far surpassed my initial expectations.

Again, the NCAA is gutless, but in this instance, they seem to be flexing some muscle. They need to keep putting pressure on them until they bend the knee and volutarily remove themselves from post season this year. Force them to fire the staff, vacate wins and give them a scholly reduction for a few years. I doubt they give them a death penalty no matter what but that doesn't mean you can't make threats.

Correct.

Only problem>? Except there's evidence that the booster was literally working with the coaches on this and there's at least two assistances involved, beyond Stallions, Partridge and someone else - likely the co-DC it sounds like).

Sort of correct, but not totally. Programs absolutely have been hammered by the NCAA for actions committed by Boosters. It's on the program to make sure they're following NCAA guidelines.

Smith has not spoken to anyone at Michigan or the NCAA about the investigation but would be happy to do so, he said. He said he has nothing to hide and he remains convinced that Stalions’ scheme broke no rules.

“If you read the rules, it’s not at all clear that any rules were broken,” Smith said.

One thing to remember though is that this is the first real investigation under the new NCAA President who has said that he wants to change the perception of the NCAA.

Was only a matter of time before people started to rat on each other. Harbaugh and the boosters about to make Stalions and a few assistant coaches be the fall guys.

And if him selling a house to fund this clown operation was true, this story would’ve been over and done with. The fact it’s not, only getting worse, and Michigan going to get the hammer means there’s definitely more.

NCAA is applying slow pressure.

I guess this is the story that Michigan fans are primarily going with at this point.

Stalions was stationed out in California through 2022.
He bought a house out there using a VA loan and sold it (in 2021? 2022?) after some significant appreciation.
Supposedly rented out rooms in the California house using AirBnB to help cover the mortgage.
Bought a house in Ann Arbor for less than what he got out of the California house leaving him a cash cushion.

Makes additional revenue selling vacuum cleaners
Self-Funded the significant cash outlay for tickets and travel to football games

Booster Tim Smith is saying he had nothing to do with it.
