So I'm not going to compare the faces or anything...I'll let you guys and twitter have their fun with that.

But that guy on the sideline is interesting because he's 100% not a coach as he has some kind of badge and was not recognized immediately by the school, and he is also holding some kind of folder/dossier in some of the clips above which would suggest he is holding or gathering intel of some kind.

Absolutely idiotic and hilarious if that is one of Michigan's crew.

That's what I don't know and was trying to put together. "IF" that is him, how did he get the sideline pass/gear. If it was a low level staffer as you say, how/why were the CMU coaches ok with him bumming around by the on field staff/players? Where is his camera/note pad ect?

I am not questioning you, these are just questions in my mind if you will....
Yeah I don't know either.
What I do know is there are like 50 dudes wandering around on the sideline of your typical college football game with passes and wearing team apparel and most people - he's holding a clipboard and minding his own business - probably aren't going to ask any questions. They've got their own things to do.

I don't know why UM/Stallions did this, but if it can be proven to be him, it is actually very important. One of UM's two administrative defenses at the moment is a legal loophole that the NCAA bylaws preventing in-person scouting and videotaping are sufficiently unclear that they might only pertain to staff and UM employees. Thus, Stallion's using video obtained from third-parties (even if he paid them) does not break the letter of the bylaw even if it breaks its spirit. It is not clear to me that the NCAA would accept such a defense, but this is what MGoBlog lawyers and the Michigan twittersphere have been holding onto as hope.

If Stallions attended this game in person, that defense is obliterated. You would have a UM staffer scouting in person, end of story. Even if it can't be proven that he is helping CMU with signs or trying to learn MSU's signs, he is clearly breaking the NCAA bylaw just by being there on the sideline.

This would leave as UM's only defense "the rogue staffer" argument, which I find utterly implausible since there is plenty of visual evidence of him attached to the hip of UM coordinators during games. Even if the NCAA were willing to stick their head in the sand on this point, all it takes is one email or recorded phone call of Harbaugh or a coordinator directing Stallions, and there is no more "rogue staffer" defense.

The ears of the individual that was present at the CMU game is all the evidence we need to conclude that Michigan should not have a football program anymore. May they burn in hell.

From a poster on mgobarf

I did hear from my primary source today. As always, you are free to believe or not believe this. Don’t shoot the messenger. Just sharing what I was told. Everything from Balas here is true. They are trying to move swiftly. Ono wants it done ASAP. My question was - Why?

My source says the reason it is an “ASAP” priority from Michigans side - to protect the school. Ono’s / BoR’s goal is to finalize the “extension” as previously negotiated, albeit tweaked with new termination language in case this all goes bad with the NCAA. On its face, it would be a “we stand with Jim” press release. Deeper, no one wants a contract dispute / lawsuit looming on top of an ncaa investigation.

As Balas notes, “that depends on Jim signing” - CB indicates this is not a done deal even though both sides allegedly agreed to the overall terms already. So why would that depend if everything was already hammered out? It’s because they are adding this termination language.

Why would Jim sign with the new language if it limits his contractual rights? Well, Ono and the Regents believe they have Jim in a tough spot. Whether he thinks he’s innocent or not, both sides want/need the extension done. Everyone realized after yesterday that putting it on hold was a bad look for recruiting and could be painted (rightly or wrongly) as indicative of the staffs “perceived guilt.” The NFL “blackball” situation remains fluid, and they feel he doesn’t have many other options anyways. Leverage exists, and they want to use it

At the same time, this language will define the rights of both sides. If Jim doesn’t want to sign, it would be a bad look given his public comments indicating willingness to finalize (made yesterday). If he refuses to sign (perhaps because he knows he’s aware/involved and the new language may likely be triggered, and does not want to tie his hands, so to speak), I’m told plan B could include the addition of some sort of a settlement payment that triggers upon exercise of the termination rights/ under certain scenarios. My source didn’t know where JH is at in his thinking on all of this, and probably won’t until the language is drafted and sent to Jim’s team to review.

All in all, they’re trying to work it through quickly and frame it positively (I.e. as “fighting back.”). The goal is to finalize this before any/much more comes out.

If it turns out Stalions was at MSU CMU, there is fear that Jim would be implicated as being aware - it is nearly impossible for staffers to…go “awol”…the night before a game…without HC input. Accordingly, that development could lead to the B1G officially opening an investigation. They want these ducks in a row before that happens. Time will tell. Go blue.

One other thing to note: Stalions attending CMU-MSU was first rumored about one week ago. Then it seemed to have disappeared and now it pops up as probably true.

Something to keep in mind this week for the other things that have been rumored.

Dude had aspirations to be HC of Michigan and instead will go down as the biggest clown in recent memory.

I was just coming to post this.

For those not following, the latest Twitter speculation is that the sunglasses Maybe Stalions was wearing on the sidelines at CMU was a special pair of Raybans which allow for pictures and video recording.

For those, like me, who first thought this was ridiculous:

1.) These glasses do exist and do resemble the Maybe Stalions pair.
2.) Unless the above photo is doctored, it does appear there is a blue recording light on in that photo of Maybe Stalions.
3.) Maybe Stalions insists on wearing sunglasses well after sunset. Stadium light glare can be intense, however, so who knows?
