Does anyone think that any coaches on Kelly's staff will get the boot? Or are we expecting to return the entire coaching staff for 2015?

Not one to ever wish another to lose their job, but change is needed. Wouldn't miss a couple of the assistants, that's for sure. That said, I doubt anyone gets the boot.

Good for him, I don't think MSU will fall off much, despite what UM fan thinks.

So here's an interesting question... let's say Harbaugh does go to Michigan... does he punt on this recruiting class, or does he try to add bodies?

He knows literally nothing about any of the prospects out there this year and doesn't have a staff in place. This isn't a college coach whose recruiting coordinator has binders on guys and it's just a matter of picking up the phone to call people you already had a relationship with at a previous place. At the point he'd take the job, he wouldn't have watched a single minute of high school film, nor spent a single moment on the phone with any prospects. He also doesn't have time to watch film while trying to assemble a staff. He'd have to either:
A) Go down the 247 Composite cold calling people and just hope they're good/interested.
B) Go through all of Hoke's offers (seems dumb considering how Hoke had a horrible eye for talent and that's the reason the roster currently sucks on offense) and see if any are interested.
C) Hire assistants who currently have jobs in CFB and go off of who they like and try to leverage those pre-existing relationships.

Would be a herculean effort over 6 weeks no matter what... or he could just see who picks up the phone to call him, and save spots for a gargantuan class full of EEs next year.

I think it would be a mix of options A & C.... Why waste the scholarships on kids that lack talent?? This years UM class was going to suck even if with Hoke....it sucks even more since Hoke's firing (surprisingly, that was possible)....but I think JH keeps the number low to save scholarships; and then goes hardcore and early for next year's recruiting class....he can offer playing time to the elite blue chipper's and that isn't always an option at a big time university....I think UM will give JH some leeway becuz of him missing this cycle of recruits...I think he will be on the 5-6 year plan, not the normal 3-4 year plan college coaches are held to....the roster needs a complete overhaul; from talent to size to speed to even bringing in kids who have potential and are coachable....

From the cold-calling perspective....If I'm a recruit and JH calls me, I'm at least listening....

Going to be a tough rebuild project. But I guess if he could do it at Stanford he'll easily be able to do it at UM.

@BruceFeldmanCFB: Jimbo Fisher & #FSU agree to a new eight-year contract through the 2022 season.

When did Nussmier quit Mchigan? Was he fired along with Hoke? I must have missed that.

Patt Nadurzzi to Pittsburgh. They might be the winners of the whole coaching carousal thing.

If we can't out recruit Mora, we will take some ex players.......I like it, plus this guy is only a few years out of the NFL, kids are going to listen to him.

....but is a helluva lot easier to rebuild a college roster at a big time program then it is a pro team with diva millionaires and lack of star QB's....

Wait, no, this isn't a accurate statement at all. The Raiders have a young QB that has a strong skill set and JH could develop. What would he have at Michigan? He would need to recruit a top QB next year, meaning he wouldn't have him until year 2 as a FR. And probably redshirt his first year for year 3. If Carr fails, JH could draft a QB in round 1 to start year 2, which would have better odds of making an impact than some high school QB he would need to recruit.

Not to mention the Bears might be looking to move on from Cutler, always allowing Oakland to make a trade. Could Michigan make a trade?

Harbaugh gets a lot of praise for what he did at Stanford but let's not pretend. He had a once in a lifetime QB that stayed all four years.

What he built continued to thrive after he left though, and he transformed the 49ers. He may be a giant horses patoot , but the guy can flat out coach and build winners. No need to minimize his track record.

He hasn't proven to me to be greater than the sum of his parts. I'm not minimizing his coaching abilities but its clear in CFB if u have a top 3 qb u are going to win a ton of games. He steps into 49ers who had just assembled one of the better defenses thru FA and draft. Filled with veteran offensive players sans Kaep. Who he hasn't shown ability to progress. Harbaugh is good but he isn't great.

The teams he built at Stanford finished in the top 10 for three years after he left, two of which didn't feature Luck. Kaep regressed this year but he took a team that largely stunk for 9 years and went to three straight NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl, and if not for injuries this year even with QB regression they likely make the playoffs. If you had a coaches fantasy draft in the NFL or NCAA I feel pretty confident that he would be a top 5 pick in either, which is a pretty unique skill set, or dare I say....great.

I think he's a pretty good coach, but he's a lot like Larry Brown. Both are control freaks. People listen the first 2-3 years because they're learning what the coach wants and how to function in his program, but then after about 3 years they get bothered because they won't let them do their job without micro-managing.

What about his Stanford transformation? He built that. No way around it. They were about to bump down to 1-AA and he had them winning 8 and 12 games his last two years.
