I agree that at least some of those players could play the part, but remember that Tillery and Cage weren't here when Diaco was in charge, Cage was a late pickup that we weren't even interested in while Diaco was here. Jarron also hadn't yet proven his worth, he emerged after Diaco's departure. Grace has been injured, and Trumbetti would be a linebacker in Diaco's system. Rochell would still work as a DE, and Jaylon is Jaylon. Romeo is a little light for 3-4 DE, but he would probably be fine. Remember when we had 30 CATs recruited and no NTs/MLBs under Diaco? That's a bad recipe for a 3-4. I can't imagine what we would have done in 2014 at DT if Jarron hadn't got his stuff together and Cage wasn't recruited. I'm just saying the grass isn't always greener. I think Diaco saw the writing on the wall roster-wise heading into 2014 and decided UConn was as good as any head coaching position. BVG's defenses have looked decent in September. I'm just saying he deserves at least another (hopefully healthy) year so he gets a fair shake. People wanted Diaco run out of town at one point too.
