Don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out.. Don't need any prima donnas. I expect this from Deon Walker but not Shaq. Getting pass up on the depth chart means your not putting in the work and trying your hardest. For christ sake, he's a sophmore! He has two more years of eligibility and Floyd has one more year.

Buh Bye!!! One less spoiled apple to weed out..

Wow...it looks like I just walked into a USC forum the way some of you guys are talking. You know USC fans, the ones who are always saying "Trojan for Life" but the minute someone even thinks of leaving they are bad-mouthing them as if they were the devil. Sad.

So Shaq wants to leave...does that make him the anti-christ? Guess what...HE'S HOMESICK, severely. I always say it - Notre Dame isn't for everybody. This is a kid who had never even left the state of CA. He's a homebody who's close to his family, and this has been a very tough transition for him. He decided to stick it out, and now the 2nd staff in a row has deemed him not good enough top be on the 2 deep. So he's not going to be playing (much) and he really wants to be closer to home; I for one am not going to get mad at him for leaving.

Think about it...you only get one shot at this football thing. Yes, the ND education is great, but it's not like there aren't successful people that graduate from other colleges. If he puts his mind to it, he can get a great education at a lot of schools out there, schools a lot closer to home. And he might be able to play a lot more there...he'll be with coaches that want him there, and the depth chart might favor him a bit better than here.

Maybe he just sees the writing on the wall...that he's not good enough to play at ND (if that's the case). Or maybe he just really wants to be closer to home. Whatever it is, why are we bad-mouthing a kid who chose our school over the much-easier choice of hated USC, a kid who hasn't said one bad thing about ND despite all his trials and tribulations of the past year.

If he starts to rip ND on the way out, then yeah, it's BS. But for now, I say good luck to the kid. It's not a huge loss in the sense that he wasn't on the 2-deep, but it does suck in the sense that he is a really talented player physically speaking. Hope everything turns out well for him...

If he was reallly that homesick don't you think he would of left in the spring and not wait until the depth chart came out?

Back when USC had that superpower going on I really wanted ND to get there, of course in a completely different way though. Anyway, I always wanted ND to get to that depth where you have to practice better than you played. I don't like freshmans playing. But if you lack the depth then so be it. Now if you have the depth and they are still able to crack it, then that is a special player. USC had so much depth at one point in time, that it was easy for them to figure out the starters. A team needs quality depth so that no one on the team feels completely comfortable that they are the starter. You should be pushed every single day. If Shaq can't crack the two deep and feels the need to leave... next. Not to be a dick, but he is a sophomore. If giving up is the attitude then move on, please.

I have been saying this to my dad that Shaq is going to transfer ever since everyone has been drooling over TJ Jones. Don't get me wrong, I am glad that we got TJ Jones and I am looking forward to seeing him play. But TJ Jones has not stepped on the field, all we've seen is practice and high school highlights. Just like Shaq's h.s. highlights TJ's are pretty damn good. I am not upset about Shaq not being on the depth chart, but he would've made a great 6th man like in b-ball. I like the starters that we have, but Kumara over Shaq?? Kumara hasn't done a thing since coming to ND. Whatever happens with Shaq I wish him the best and I think he'll be missed...especially if we have a injury.

Call it giving up, call it realizing he's not good enough, call it whatever. But this "don't let the door hit ya in the ass" is USC fan behavior. This "he's a prima donna" without any proof is USC fan behavior. Being homesick is far from being a prima donna. Do you have any anecdotes from practices you've seen that shown him as one?

As far as waiting for the depth chart to come out...like I said, homesickness. Homesickness is relieved a ton by actually playing in games. But when you're sitting on the bench and you don't feel like this is the place for you, then yes, you want to leave. It happens. Until he says something terrible about ND or BK, I'm not going to act all USC-fan and talk shit about the kid on his way out, especially considering by all accounts he's a decent kid that maybe just isn't good enough yet to contribute to ND's football team.

Sorry, I just don't see how him leaving ND is such a crime. It sucks, but to call him a prime donna and tell him to basically get the fu*k out? Come on man, we should be better than that. You gonna tell the same thing to Ms. Lynch if her son considers transferring? "We love you we love you we love you...get the fu*k out!" ?????

Shaq has been unhappy since he came here over a year ago. If he wants to leave, let him leave, I won't lose any sleep over it. Walker is just as talented as him and a year older, but isn't considering transferring (that we know of). So if Shaq does decide to transfer best of luck to him...But we have plenty of depth and future stars at the position.

While I disagree with the bashing that this kid is taking on this board from some, I think this is a very fair and timely question. "My feeling are hurt because I'm not getting mine so I'm taking my ball and going home."

No matter how we try to spin it, this is the way it's going to come off.

damn, i just looked at the WR depth chart at Oregon...

filled with 3 stars, one 4 star, and a few zero stars.

transferring thre would make sense i suppose...still not close to Englewood, however, if he is indeed homesick...

Talk up Kumara all you want, but I haven't been impressed w/ him since he has been at ND. He put up decent stats in 07, yeah he was Jimmy's go-to guy because we didn't have anyone else. Kumara might be the best hands-down blocking WR when he is playing, he has been MIA since his freshman season. I do agree w/ NDinL.A. about Shaq leaving if he is homesick, but all this "prima donna" b.s., give it up people are you on the field or in the dorm room hanging out w/ Shaq?? I hope Kelly can talk Shaq into staying as he would be more of an importance to our roster next year, but still be a threat to this year's roster.

whats the difference if he transfers now, or waits until the end of the season to see how things work out?

if he leaves now will he be able to play next year, or will next year be the year he has to sit out?

Aaron's family is coming with him aren't they? Now I can see him losing his friends from high school feeling homesickness from that, but leaning on his new teammates will help him. From Aaron's interview he has that determination in him that he will fight to earn a spot on the team and continue to do so. Plus Aaron is coming in on a depleted dline, not, coming in on position that was very well recruited at.

If it's homesickness, so be it.. But it's very interesting he decides to leave when the final depth chart comes out for the Purdue game. I just think the whole "homesickness" is a cop out. He should of left after his freshman year if it was that bad.

We shouldn't bag on a kid because he's doing what he needs to do. Good luck to him.

You act like ND has a weak depth chart at WR.

We have plenty of other WRs that have bought into Kelly's system and have great potential.

I will not lose a second of sleep over Shaq leaving.

No, we aren't weak right now.

But next year we could be trotting out Riddick-Jones-Goodman as a starting lineup. Given we expect big things from these guys, especially Riddick and Jones, but that is clearly a step down from what we've been rolling with for the past two years.

You could argue Shaq never contributed anything and that Jones is kind of taking his place, but still, if Evans leaves we'll need some youngsters to step up big time next year.

Nobody has to talk up Kamara. Is he Michael Floyd? No but to say that he has been MIA is a little over the top. If he meant little to the team then we wouldnt be talking about having to fill a void next year when he leaves. Him being second on the depth chart shows that obv he was better than Shaq at this point and time. With his build and skill set and the fact that our new zone blocking scheme is so important, Kamara will prove to be very important this year. He is the best blocking WR I have seen in awhile and he will take a lot of pressure off Michael.

MIA??? Where have you been Andy? Only two players on offense have STARTED more games than he has - 1 more game.

He's caught 75 passes in his career. He's the 3rd leading Receiver on the team. Not too shabby considering he played behind the Bilitnikoff Award winner last year, probably the Bilitnikoff Award Winner this year, and probably this year's Mackey Award winner. Caught 75 balls while playing with 3 All-American Receiver. Never has ND had so much talent in the receiving corps. He spent a year in Weis's doghouse and had his knee scoped prior to last season.

MIA??? You should read more and post less.

really good #'s considering the guys in front of him. makes me feel kind of good about shaq not moving up the depth chart. we are solid 1-5 on recievers. if he cant play i dont blame him one bit for leaving!

College kids transfer all the time. The best thing to do in a situation like this is to accept it, wish him the best, and move on. I hope things work out well for him, but the odds are against him.

A comment has been made about next year's receiving core without Floyd, Kamara, Evans. I believe that it's not terribly unusual for a team to lose a starter, and two back-ups [especially when we play three WR positions] so just numbers-wise it's one of those things we'll always face at some position or other. -------------------------------------------------------------------------On the returning side, I have heard Coach Kelly say VERY good things about Riddick, and TJ. Who's to say that one of them can't be an All-American in their careers? You can't "plan" All-Americans on paper, so let's see what coach can do. Frankly, Riddick, Jones, Goodman, Bennett, Daniel Smith, Collingsworth [again Kelly has said overtly good things about all these freshmen] , Toma, and even Deion Walker [whom we all hope steps up], sound like a pretty good group to me. As one national Analyst said: Kelly seems to be able to make great receivers just by breathing on them. Next year's group would have three vets with lots of snaps, and a depth with lots of talent. No need to abandon ship.

Well, I'm pretty surprised that Kamara has caught 75 passes in his carreer. I thought the # would be lower. He just always seems to be forgotten. I'm hoping for some nice things this senior year from him. Big posession receiver and as you mentioned, great blocker. Maybe with a big year he can get a look in the draft in the late rounds...maybe.

i wish the kid the best if he does leave, but if he does it's not a very big loss.
this kid was completely counterproductive last season.
any time we needed a big catch from a wr he always dropped passes.
i think he did some promotion work for Butterfinger during the offseason.

But seriously,It's not a loss.
