I watched the NC St /UConn video yesterday and have to agree with the consensus view that we don't have a lot to worry about here. NC St was underwhelming and to the NC writer who thinks they were "holding back" I'd say you've got a rose colored view. That game was close, you don't hold back when you might lose and UConn's unforced errors were the big reason why ND St didn't.. There was a pass interference call on UConn in the end zone that gave NCSt a first and goal when they would have had to kick a FG and a pair of penalties on a kickoff that gave NCSt the ball on the UConn 27 to start the "drive". Note to RB-don't do a flip in the end zone if you score.

NC St may have been vanilla on defense. UConn's QB stunk. They will get killed if they play the drop 8 vs us, so they won't. How we handle the blitz will be a key. We took Navy apart in that regard. Their personnel looks pretty good on defense but nobody really stood out. They play a 3-3-5 so they are not overly big #11., Peyton Wilson is probably their best player. They use him on pass coverage a lot and he's not fast enough to handle a RB in space but is a sure tackler in the run game. UConn had a 75 yd run on an off tackle play. Their safeties aren't fast.

On offense its telling that Brennan Armstrong is their best runner. RB's didn't stand our and the OL did not dominate UConn. Armstrong did mostly dump offs and ran often without waiting to get guys open. So he appeared to lack confidence in his WR's. The WR's, RB's and OL all looked pretty average to me. They'll have to hit some passes in the red zone to score TD's IMO. Didn't vs UConn.

I see a lot of fretting about the weather but the forecast looks pretty benign. Not windy and the rain chance isn't anywhere's near 100%. Biggest worry could be a lighting stoppage which could add some uncertainty.

I think the II pod cited a stat where he’s gotten at least one 10+ yd run in every game he’s played. Hopefully Golden doesn’t get too blitz happy & it turns into last year‘s SC game. Even if NCST has success w/ their offense, ND should be able to outscore them provided the OL can give Hartman & the RB time to make plays. I believe the OL shoulders the biggest burden in this game. NCST had a legit defense last season & I expect them to be playing over the heads tomorrow.
Um, Caleb Williams >>>>>>>Brennan Amstrong.

I didn't know we had a little brother! neat.

All kidding aside, I just hope our boys start fast. NC State has won 18 of 20 or somthing pretty darn impressive like that at Carter-Finley, so should be a tough environment.

On paper, ND is the much better team. I'm sure it would feel great for Hartman to play well in Raleigh and put some of those poor performances there to rest.

If this holds true, it's going to be very important to get out to an early lead before that weather turns in the second half and both teams have to get one dimensional.

Agree, other than if we are 3rd and 8 plus, good chance they drop 8. They did that vs hartman last year with success. He doesn't have a huge arm, but on the flip side, if he has all day he'll find someone accurately. he didn't have all day when they dropped 8 last year.

I see this as a trenches game for sure. ND want/need to run the ball to keep their offense humming and NCST defensively pride themselves on stopping the run even with the 3-3-5 scheme. NCST offensive line looked very beatable against UCONN as Armstrong was running for his life most of time it want little bit I saw of that game. Shocker here...but if ND can control the line of scrimmage on both sides of ball NCST doesn't have the horse to overcome that.

If they want to drop eight all day they are welcome to. We’ve got plenty of RBs.

Everyone worried about missing the game, don't be. The lightning delays will have it going into the night time, just like the 2011 USF game.

(I am attempting a reverse jinx here, move along).

When is your tee time?? I guess when you shoot 100+ those Saturday rounds can take awhile...

We have anywhere from 16-32 guys teeing off every Saturday and Sunday. 730 is the first tee.
Money side games on every hole that ends with a small party in the parking lot after while we wait for everyone to finish.

Yeah, I wasn’t implying otherwise but Armstrong can run and he’s not afraid lower a shoulder. My point comparing the two games was if ND just darts into the backfield & ends up chasing Armstrong from behind (like they did w/ Williams), it’ll be a long day for the defense. As pissed off as MF was after it happened in LA last year, I would hope Golden has a better plan of attack. Make this kid beat you w/ his arm & those WR.

I was thinking the same thing. Got mild Williams vibes to him. Not as good obviously but more on that spectrum than a Maye or Klubnick.

Pretty cool listening to Kyle Rudolph & Mike Glennon talk about their NFL days while mixing in some ND/NCST talk.
