I don't see all the hype about Georgia either. It's not like they ran over Appalachian State. Appalachian state doesn't have one offensive player that would start over any guys we have. Georgia has a bad OL so I would put Daelin hayes on the side of their weakest line. Georgia isn't a great throwing team which should play into our advantage. They only had 147 yeards receiving with their longest being 34 yards after that it was 16 and 10.

I agree that it should be a close game. Both teams are talented and flawed. Should be good.

UGAs pass defense has been terrible for a few years. Their defense is "active" though to what effectiveness IDK. Seems like that was what BVGs defense was too. Active but ineffective.

Big story will be how we handle the RBs. Could be a long game for NDs DL.

Shouldn't be a long game for our DL against that Georgia OL.

Watched UGA and didn't see anything overly impressive. Think it's a 34-27 type of a game, which way I am not sure.

The old adage that the buggest improvement is seen between games 1 & 2. If thats the case w/ ND, I like our chances.

It'll be a tough game that's for sure. But they only beat App St by 21; that's underwhelming, if you ask me. I see it being a fight until the end.

I dont think people are giving ASU their due. This team took Tennessee at Knoxville to the wire last year. They can play football.

Thats a big disagreement for me. Haha. I think their OL is better than our DL and their RBs are special. Add in a systemic propensity to not tackle by LBs and safeties.... consider me worried for their Running game.

Yes they can. Hungry, well-coached team. Saturday can't get here fast enough. All the cards will be on the table Sunday morning, can't wait to see what hand is shown.

Their OL sucks and that's being kind. Their starting LT is a 6-3 guard. It is easily the weakest unit in their team and has been for two years. Even UGA fans won't dispute that. Our DL played very well against Temple.

Yup. The perception of their OL has been a game of telephone. It's gone from "replacing 3 starters" to "well wasn't good last year" to "well they're starting a true freshman" to "they're horroble".

I don't think perception is reality on this one. And we're completely neglecting that our DL hasn't done anything. Remember how bad they were last year? And our interior DL is worse than last year. So....

Then you have Chubb, who is going to take some of our players for a ride.

In order to win this, I believe Elko has to force 2 turnovers, or at least 1 game changing one (inside their red zone/scoop and score). All things even, they will run with success on us, and that'll allow either qb to co.plete the passes that matter.

All my opinion of course, and would love to be wrong. I'll be praying for turnovers.

Looking forward to this matchup. We know Georgia has some big SEC talent, but I'm not ready to roll over for them. I think last week was exactly what should have been expected. A vanilla game plan on both sides of the ball without showing too much. I'm happy with the way the D played the second half, and my old self is actually getting used to the fact that modern offenses are going to break off some big gainers and score some points. Hoping we can dial up some pressure this week against the Dawgs.
Also excited to see us body up in the run game on offense and stick with it throughout. We really have 3 backs who can come at you all game, which is going to be fun to watch. Stick with the run, we will get stuffed a few times but don't abandon it. Set up the play action against an aggressive Defense.
This should be a lot of fun. I'm expecting a great performance from the Irish this week.

On the topic of vanilla, for those that know elko well, was he holding back big time? Is he more exotic with the blitz typically?

I hope he brings a lot of confusion to the Georgia game.

The d-line held Temple to 85 yards on the ground, the d-ends had 2 sacks, created pressure on multiple plays, and Tillery showed tremendous effort and hustle on Saturday. Not sure how that is considered doing anything.

From the stuff I've seen, he likes to use more stunts, twists, and delays with his blitzes, and isn't afraid to use the secondary and drop the WDE. He likes to be unpredictable (I know, captain obvious) with where the pressure is coming from. I trust (hope) he will have some tricks up his sleeve this week.

Considering Mike Elko will be going against a true freshman QB that knows 50% of the playbook, I think/hope will be able to create consistent pressure.

Don't know how many tricks up his sleeve this week for a true FR. QB playing against the best competition he's ever seen and on the road.

I think this game is the challenge both Georgia and ND need in the second week. I believe it will be a very physical game. I like others think that Adams/Dexter need to touch the ball a lot and see both of our tight ends play huge rolls. I was not impressed with special teams in any way last week so hopefully we can come up with a big play to help both the offense and defense. I also believe the right side of the line is going to need som help in pass protection. Don't be surprised to see some trickory in the first two drives to caution their aggressiveness.

I agree with you guys. But I'm also sure there's a bit of showmanship involved in those quotes. By tricks I mean opening up the playbook a bit more this week than last. He didn't need to get too exotic against Temple, and I'm curious to see what the game plan is against UGA. It should be fun to watch.

I'm worried about being able to stop Georgia on those "3rd down and less than 4 yard" plays. I think they can rack up a lot of yards on us, I'm just hopeful we can hold them to field goals when they get in the red zone.
Offensively, we've got to get the run game going. No way we're running for 400 but we've got to have success to set up some play-action. Keep them off balanced to minimize their speed/athleticism. Wimpish needs to play mistake free football.

One positive is Georgia went over 30 points only 3 times last year was held to 25 or less quite a bit, never went over 40

"App State is better than ND".

-seen on Georgia board and Reddit as justification for a UG blowout. Hopefully the Bulldogs are hearing stuff like that all week because they will be in for a rude awakening. ND's recruiting is much more like Georgia's than App State. And I think Elko is gonna have these guys tackling all damn week to get ready. Feel pretty good right now.

I respect the fact that Georgia has elite talent in certain areas, but this is a game we should win. Big foe coming to our house, true freshman QB, slightly suspect Oline, load the box a bit make this QB beat you. Bring the noise, the crowd, some game pressure, this team as it sits right now has no business coming to South Bend and beating our Irish. Not saying it can't happen but where we are in the Kelly tenure, and them losing their starting QB, it should not happen.

I wish Eason was playing. Now I can see the naysayers, well they only beat a true freshman QB or even worse they lost to one.

I'm telling you guys this Fromm thing is going to be like Kizer in '15.... I think he's a significant upgrade from Eason and they're going to simplify the game plan for him. I was very confident about this game preseason, much less so now. Our safeties will need to play well which I'm just not very sure is even possible. If I were the coaches I'd start Tranquill at FS this game and play Bilal at rover... run support will be way better than Coleman (can't tackle) or Studstill (can't take good angles).

I agree - I think Fromm will give us more trouble than Eason. Also agree with the safety support. Studstill looked poor vs. Temple.
