They’re beating us in the trenches..

- Cheeks is beating our tackles.
- Their interior linemen are getting pressure
- LBers are playing downhill & absolutely stuffing the run game

Add that with Denbrock calling a Playskool my first football game & CJ lacking confidence & dare I say.. leadership?

The OL is just flat out getting beat & none of Williams, James or Young have shown any vision or patience.. just running into the wall.

I’m also not sure we’ve lined up a receiver that can stretch the field. Faison looked great on that nab over the middle but Denbrock just refuses to keep throwing it downfield.

CJ hasn’t thrown a single DEEP ball.. I mean.. do we have a WR on the roster that can stretch the field?

This looks nothing like a national championship contending team.

Run game they need to get outside. Wisconsin’s DL should be trash but they are heavy. They are just collapsing everything into a pile of mush. Line up in Pistol and get to the edge.

Not sure I saw a single ND player look physically aggressive (rough-ass mean) on the field.

Wisconsin has been bully-boys not us. Where the hell are we on this? This isn't a gentlemen's tea party.

Both lines are being out mauled -- both tackles not good. WRs and even RBs soft (Young OK). C'MON!!!

We shouldn't look this way (even though I think that Wisconsin IS pretty good with its rebuild.

Early thoughts:

1. Very weird energy from the team. Did not expect a lack of energy given how last year ended.

2. Defense is playing ok minus the big fuck up by Sanders. Three points were essentially gifted to Wisconsin by the special teams, so it's really just been the one play.

3. Offense is a mess. All my biggest internal worries about Carr are coming true, the RBs are showing no vision, the OL looks like a patchwork (hmm maybe shuffling everyone around through game week is a bad idea???), and I have yet to see any WRs get seperation minus Jordan Faison.

4. Special teams gets a C because you're lucky as shit that punt wasn't blocked for a TD but it is nice to see the ball go through the uprights.

Halftime thoughts.

- RBs look like Navy fullbacks. Zero physical attributes. No vision, no power, linebacker speed.

- Tackles getting whooped.

- DL has done nothing. Where is Boub? Why are DTs looking like 2023 DTs?

- Denbrock is coaching like Pyne is our QB. Screens or hitches.

You can tell this team is playing wayyyyy to tight and aren’t playing loose. The O line really needs to step up. They can break some runs and hopefully open the playbook a little here in the 2nd half

This is about how I expected this to go to this point. Its alright but nothing good. I missed the first two possessions (Ws first possession then NDs first with the Carr fumble I assume he was sacked).

Defense was okay and could take over.

Offense is not great. The OL is always terrible week 1. That is now to be expected. The WRs are about what was expected. Graham's catch that was called back due to the BS hold call made him look promising. Faison looks pretty good on that one catch. But overall the WRs are same as the last 5 years - not especially fast. Hopefully a young fast lad is waiting to get a chance - ND is due a surprise WR deep threat.

The RBs so far don't look too good. Again hopefully Osborne or the other freshman is ready to go.

We got lucky with the kick-off recovery.

All the preseason hype has them thinking they can just show up and roll.
Hopefully they wake up before we get Marshall'd again on national tv.

What's the rule on that? His toe went out of bounds, but it was off the ground when he actually had possession. He's not a receiver so I'm unsure if that rule applies to him.

Just can't bring a team ready weeks 1-3. Soft in the trenches. RB1 is an RB3. Tired of unprepared Freeman.
