We’re gonna get blown out. Why you ask?
1) I saw Fromm making back shoulder throws to their WR all day and our DB’s we’re getting PI’s like it was their job.
2) Were gonna get ran over by their run game. We can’t stop New Mexico how are we gonna stop UGA?
3) We can’t run the ball between the tackles for shit.

Why not focus on what we CAN do?

Last I checked it’s usually being able to DO something that wins games.

We have playmakers and some depth in key areas. We have a competent QB. We will ride to Georgia with some confidence from a dominant win. A win is always good for momentum. We have players with experience in big games. We have many youngbloods flashing great potential on both defense and offense. We have a mythical legend for a mascot, not a dog with breathing problems. We have the better fight song, objectively and subjectively speaking. Right now, the score is 0-0 with 4 quarters on the clock with plenty of time to draw up a 1st play of the game bomb to Lenzy over the top to show we mean business.

No offense, but this sounds like a post i read before the 2012 BCS NC game, the Fiesta Bowl vs tOSU after the 2015 season or last year’s CFP semi-final. ND is a really good program but they don’t have the depth of talent to compete w/ the Bamas, Clemson, tOSU or UGAs right now. I don’t know if they ever will but you gotta have talent in your 2s & 3s b/c injuries are unavoidable. Every team gets them but when it’s used as an excuse, it’s a telltale sign that your program doesn’t stack up to the elite. And that’s ok....most don’t stack up to the four aforementioned when it comes to rosters.

Gonna have to sell out against the run and make Fromm beat us. It's not ideal, but in a pick your poison mindset, I'd rather make him throw 50/50 balls against out safeties all day than let them run against our base defense.

No offense taken. I've been a fan since '88, so I was there too for all the disappointments. I'm not pumping sunshine, nor am I disagreeing with your assessment. All I am saying is that thank God the sport has room for surprises and sometimes those surprises are based on the positives that we do have. We have some weapons, and so I am going to keep an optimistic frame of mind that we have a chance.

Yep, and weirdly I like it.

I think this hitting gaps (by the Lb’s) defense works best with pro style offense. DT’s are playing well. S’s run alleys. Man up outside and see what happens.

We have the safeties to make him sorta earn it.

Can it be done? Yes. Will it work? Probably not. But I don't see another path forward.

Our offense also is gonna have headaches. It looks like we cant run the ball....despite having an offensive line that will likely churn out multiple future pro bowlers, since that is what Notre Dame does.

This feels like the 2012 NC game with slightly more offensive skill for ND.

My prediction is 42-17 Georgia.

I’d feel more comfortable if our Defense actually had a sack yesterday but the DL has underperformed and there were still times yesterday where we ran the play and you were like what the hell is chip Kelly Calling or Book doing

Give me more Keys and Lenzy over Finke sorry but if we are gonna compete with Georgia we need our fastest guys on the field

Agree. Finke should play but thess guys should be featured.

But if history tells us anything, BK will play his experienced players to death in this game, regardless od talent.

I understand they're both on the field for many packages, but I'd start Hayes over Okwara in a heart beat.

Okwara hasn't been noticeable at all and Hayes is making the game look easy and impacting plays all over the field.

Hayes >> Okwara and so far in 2019 it's not even close.

It's too bad one of them couldnt play middle backer for this one.

I agree I also like ADE O when he gets in he seems to
make something good happen. I just feel like what’s gonna kill us is swift goal
Number one should be to contain him easier said than done.

It’s just two games into the season – those games were Louisville and New Mexico – but Notre Dame is allowing 4.96 yards per carry.

That’s No. 107 nationally. Among Power 5 teams, only Rutgers, Syracuse, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt are worse

Total yards per game allowed 230.5. That’s #120 nationally.

And if you’re curious, Georgia is averaging 7.61 yards per carry so far this season. That’s fifth nationally. Bulldogs averaging 286.7 yards rushing per game.

Hope we come out strong. But going into the season I figured ND will be 10-2 this season with one of the loss coming from this game. Can’t always go 12-0. Still excited for the season.

Makes sense. Our pass defense, so far, has been quite good. (Even adjusting for New Mexico’s crap QB)
I really don’t think they’re going to score a ton on us. If they do, it’ll be late after they’ve worn down our front seven on the ground.
I’m more worried about our ability to move the ball. We’re going to need some guys to step up, Book to play his best game, and probably a few breaks. All of which can happen, especially if we hold them under, say, 28.

This has to be the plan defensively, but I still see the Georgia O line making the ND linebackers disappear whenever they please.

No clue what ND is going to do offensively. Can't run consistently, WRs can't stretch the field, and Book still can't launch it.

The matchup reminds me a lot of Clemson in January. I think if ND covers the spread it's a win, especially at Georgia at night. With that said I feel much more optimistic about ND beating Michigan and Stanford after watching those two.

Can’t believe after a 52 point win nobody thinks we have a shot in this game. Let’s be honest, this GA team is deep and talented...... They aren’t perfect and they can be beaten. I get that they are rightly favored and we have shown some weaknesses so far. I do believe that we’ve held back some stuff and there’ll be some tweaks in for this game.

To say this is like Bama in 2012 is ridiculous in my view.... Other than Eifert, Teo and a couple others.... we weren’t even close to them in speed and size. This is no longer the case. I get that it could be better and GA has some real talent, but these two situations aren’t similar at all. If we lose big, it’ll be a 2017 Miami tidal wave of poop and not a mega-huge talent/size/speed disparity. I think we have a puncher’s chance and think if we get a confident Book and can hold up against the run somewhat (without selling out) that we’ll keep it close. I know those are 2 big IFs, but I feel like it will happen. I like our chances to be competitive.

All this being said, I was singing the same tune last year vs Clemson (still think they had it going then momentum wise and were fortunate with refs/timely injuries). I just don’t buy the “oh we can’t compete” line anymore. It’s not like we’re running out a Weis defense. We’ve got some dudes and I think they’re gonna make some plays. I feel like their style will help our great players be in position to make plays.

As I said, I believed last year as well and will go to my grave believing we were not 27 points worse than Clemson (I know the scoreboard matters more than feelings). I hope that I’m right and we are able to get the win. This game will likely have an impact felt for a long time. I still get crap about LSU and OSU (against Brady Quinn) and Bama in 2012. I’m the flag bearing ND fan where I work and my pals are very quick to rub it in when things go bad. I just want this big game let down rep to go away and show the talent in the south that we can go down there and get the win against the best they’ve got. Also, GA win or lose against us will fatten up all season on nonsense teams in the trash filled SEC east. It’s self fulfilling because the SEC lovers (Finebaum, etc) will use these bad teams beating each other to make their unintelligent case that the SEC is so tough.... SEC West, maybe but not the east........

Anyway, ramble over and Go Irish!

I just don't have any confidence in this offense. Don't let the big plays fool you.....ND has problems. Can't win if you don't score. UGA wins 28-10, but ND never feels in it for the last 20 minutes.

What has Georgia done to put themselves in the same league as those teams?

Alabama was flat out unstoppable that year. As good as Georgia's OL is, the Bama OL was better almost across the board. More experienced defense and they were flat out dominating everybody. It took a Heisman moment from Johnny Football a week after a grueling matchup in Death Valley for them to lose.

Clemson had probably the best defensive front 7 CFB has seen in a decade, and Trevor Lawrence + Justyn Ross completely humiliated Alabama's vaunted defense.

And that Ohio State team was MEGA-STACKED. Zeke Elliott, Joey Bosa, Michael Thomas, Darron Lee, Vonn Bell, Gareon Conley, Sam Hubbard, Tyquan Lewis, JT Barrett, Taylor Decker. Make no mistake, it took a cataclysmic failure of a coaching job by Meyer for this team to miss the playoff after laying the mother of all eggs against Michigan State. After that game, Ohio State played focused and up to their ridiculous potential. As evidenced by them obliterating Michigan and running away from us.

Georgia certainly has talent, but they haven't earned the right to be placed next to those teams.

On the flip side though, what have we shown that we will keep this even remotely competitive?

Seriously? We have a very good defense. If - big if, I grant - we can force Fromm to beat us - as opposed to their RBs - we bring a veteran defensive backfield and some of the best pass rushers in the country. That should be enough to keep it close. Book will need to play his best game, and our offensive line must play to its potential, if we're to have a legit shot to win. But our defense alone should keep this "remotely competitive."

Our defense is giving up close to five yards a carry right now. We are almost dead last in the nation in giving up runs of 10+ yards. While I agree our ends are studs, Okwara and Kareem haven’t shown too much game wrecking so far.

Horrible takes b/c you disagree with them. Give me some solid analysis as why ND will win...not your gut or heart.
