Impossible to overstate how critical this game is for coach marcus
It is a big one and a tone setter for the rest of the year. Lose this and playoffs aren't happening. Win and Leonard balls out changes the potential trajectory of the entire season. Will be a good game. Freeman needs to have the boys ready and Leonard needs to find his passing.

If we give up 4 TDs, the loss won’t be on the offense.
Much like UL hasn’t really played anyone w/ an elite offense…ND has not either so as confident we can be in the secondary, the DL hasn’t lived up to expectations…specifically the two DTs who came back for 5tH & 6th season respectively. The LB corps is talented & Kiser brings tons of experience & savvy along w/ being a helluva tackler. But I can’t forget how out of position the young guys looked vs NIU.

UL loves to run underneath crossers that directly target the LBs. I’ll be interested to see how Golden schemes to defend this. His squad got handled by the Brohm Bros last season.

I am really hopeful that what Golden saw from LVille last season will pay dividends for ND this season. I think about the improvement of the ND defense against Lincoln Riley's offense from year one to year two. I am hoping that Golden does a deep dive on what Brohm did last season and has this veteran D prepared.

Guy has done some research, unlike many for give "picks" and he's basically right about ND and their spotty offense, but he doesn't really address the fact that Louisville hasn't played anyone any good. Yeah they've shredded two patsies and one medicore ACC team. But will that convert vs Golden? I like the Irish here. His score of 28-24 is about right, just flip it.
The only way we give up 24 to them is if the offense constantly puts the D in bad positions on the field. Which is VERY possible. If the O sputters, hopefully the punter brings his Miami Ohio game rather than his Weeks 1-3 game.

Is lacy playing. If I were him I would sit one more week so he can dodge Morrison.

Golden was probably watching the film 30 minutes after the Miami game. I really don't expect him to get beat twice. The key is going to be the LB's not getting caught up in pre-snap motion and formation.

We are going to learn a lot about this team, one way or another. No doubt that Louisville comes out trying to establish the run and playing zone defense to challenge Leonard.
I’m not confident ND can stop UL’s run w/o running some zone defense. UL stunk in the run game vs a very physical GT but they’re still a better run team over the course of a season than NIU & Miami OH

Can you be more specific?

I was just wondering if he came up lame after Leonard launched a 10 yard pass 40 feet over his head. Did he hurt his ankle or what? I guess that's why he slammed his helmet?

I could be wrong, but his response probably should’ve been in italics.

Lol I was being facetious about "that botched pass".

Agree, Golden vs the Brohms is the matchup to watch here. Kind of a given that our offense will sputter.

Some are reporting Leonard is 0-2 vs L'ville and that's a factor. Hogwash. Duke didn't play L'ville in 2022, the year Riley was "good". He played the second half in a 62-22 blowout loss in 2021, his first real action. Cutliffe's last year. He actually went 13-13 for 100 yards and ran for 95; this got him the starts for the rest of his freshman year. His game vs them in 2023 was a couple weeks after Howard Cross bent his ankle in an ungodly direction. They never should have put him in that game with the injury and he was terrible.

The line (-6.5) screams sucker bet. I didn't like ND until I saw that line, now I can't help but think Vegas is going to love taking everyone's money that thinks L'ville will keep this one close. ND 34 -20

I felt the same way last year going into the USC game. Couldn't figure out why ND, coming off a loss to Louisville the week before, was favored by 6+ against the 7-0 Trojans.

Vegas knew.

I'm not trying to pick on you, but this mindset is the reason we lose to teams like Marshall and NIU (and lose to more respectable programs like Clemson, and Louisville that we were favored to beat)

Whether we win this game or not should have no bearing on what happens the rest of the season. Fuck "tone setter" and "trajectory"- this team needs to play like its back is against the wall the rest of the season because there's no margin for error. Everyone has to focus on one play at a time, one game at a time. Otherwise, they're gonna beat Louisville then lose to Navy

Is it true that as I just saw in an online post, that this was supposed to be a night game but is now at 3:30 PM of course; that it's only available on Peacock? And that despite the YouTube preview video highlighting that The Irish will wear all green for this game, MF is still deciding if the team actually will or will not wear green for this game?
