Even though I like their new coach, I am pretty ambivolent about them firing Danny - And after some of the comments about last years game, I want to go to Ross-Ade and leave with the Boilermakers needing first aid.

Onefootdown just published its 2013 preview of Purdue:

There's a new sheriff in town and you can't blame Purdue fans for being excited about the future. We'll see if Darrell Hazell is an upgrade over the Hope era but these turnarounds don't often happen over night. Hazell was a solid hire for the Boilermakers but his coaching isn't going to suddenly turn them into Rose Bowl contenders.

Defensively this looks like it will be a fairly strong team for Big Ten standards. The loss of Short could be big but there is talent up front and plenty of experience in the secondary. Can they improve upon the effort from last year where they gave up 30+ points in 6 games? I think they might be an improved team on defense if Hazell puts enough emphasis on it.

Offensively there should be much more worry at Purdue with little pieces coming back. Hazell will have his hands full improving this unit and it took him a year to do so at Kent State as the Golden Flashes went from 253.2 yards per game (119th nationally) in 2011 to 388.3 yards per game (74th nationally) last year. I don't see the Boilermakers improving on their below average offense from last year.

Interesting to note that this will be Notre Dame's second straight road night game following the the trip to Ann Arbor and preceding the home game against Michigan State. There is some let down voodoo in there to guard against. It also might be a long time before we see the Irish play 3 Big Ten teams in a season, let alone in a row.

Predicted Game Day Spread- Purdue (+13.5)

Paging The Grammar Hammer! The Sultan of Syntax ... The Scimitar of Spelling and Structure ... The Arsehole of Assonance and Alliteration ... The Pissant of Persnickety Pursuit.

Wait. That would be me.

Okey-Dokey: "their," not "there." In reference to Boilermaker – fans, there will be some there. They're typical college football fans. Their hopes will be typically delusional.

Dammit!

If you didn't already hate Purdue...

Shirts like that are made and sold at virtually every school with a football program. I still can't muster anything approaching hate for Purdue. Not even mild annoyance.

Paging NDBoiler.

As long as you don't try to sit in the student section while wearing the opposing team's colors, you'll be fine. I've seen that happen a few times and it doesn't end well, but I guess it probably wouldn't most places either. The vast majority of Boilermakers are great folks, and I think you will find them very accomodating. Knowing that this is probably (another) down year, you won't see a whole lot of dilusional fans either. We like to drink, so I would suggest doing that too, and you will fit right in.

To make a long story short, you shouldn't have any problem. If someone hassles you, just tell them you know me.

I think the hate for Purdue probably applies more to people in Indiana than others. Due to having quite a few friends and knowing lots of people who go to Purdue/ are Purdue fans ill admit i hate them. Nothing like UM or USC but i do, i get sick of hearing their constant talk when they have no ground to stand on. And i always hear "well you barely beat us; the refs were terrible; we suck anyways so its not much of an accomplishment." Or if ND loses to someone the Purdue people always seem to be the first to say "what happened to ND this weekend?" Then i consistently to this day hear, "well just wait till this year, we're going to win its going to be different this time." They just **** me off, sometimes i think its because their team is so bad they just try and get under my skin haha.

I don't know many Purdon't fans, but I think this applies to fans of a lot of college football teams and I'm sure we're included. I have a Michigan buddy (unfortunately) that probably only watches a few games a year and rarely is one the Irish matchup. He'll check scores afterwards though. If ND loses he'll always be quick to pull the "What happened?" If Michigan loses? Never says a word. I never reciprocate it, mostly because I know he's not really a big college football fan.

I've got some Buckeye buddies that can go either way. Some are cool and theres camaraderie there with the mutual hate for Michigan. Then theres other OSU fans that whine about Irish wins whenever they play B1G "These refs are horrible! (Nevermind the refs are usually B1G when we're at home, they forget that) Irish got lucky, Purdue sucks, Denard/Michigan sucks, Sparty being Sparty" etc.

Honestly, a large portion of the students don't even care about our athletics.

They mostly go for the social aspect.

You'll also encounter a lotttt of ND fans at the game.

With this said, it is a night game. So students and fans will be more drunk than usual.

So if you wear nd gear, be expecting so oral attacks. But nothing more severe.

I made the trip two years ago and had a great time. The Purdue idiots were convinced Floyd was going to get shut down by that 5'9 CB; that obviously didn't happen.

Bill Connelly just published his 2013 preview of Purdue:

In terms of overall quality, Hazell's first Purdue team will probably be comparable to Jerry Kill's third in Minnesota. But wow, what a difference a schedule makes. Whereas Minnesota could start the season 5-0 with a Top 60-70 squad, Purdue could start 1-7 with a Top 40-50 squad. By the time Ohio State comes to town on November 2, the Boilermakers will have already hosted two projected top-25 teams (Notre Dame, Nebraska) and visited three top-30 teams on the road (Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Michigan State). As with last season, there are wins to be found in November (Iowa, Illinois, at Indiana), but if Purdue is going to reach a bowl, it has to figure out a way to score at least one upset, possibly two (depending on how good Northern Illinois is). That might be a lot to ask.

In Darrell Hazell, Purdue made an incredibly safe hire. Lucky or not, Hazell oversaw a miracle run in 2012, and he's got all the midwestern ties you could possibly want. But is Purdue squad is probably flawed in too many damning ways to survive this schedule, and we probably won't learn a lot about Hazell's potential until 2014.

But seriously, give Akeem Hunt the damn ball.

Perdue fans and students are classy. I have been to several ND games there and have never heard any remarks that were hostile or even unfriendly.
However the stadium hot dogs are the worst I have ever had. It should be noted that PU has an outstanding veterinary school. ?coincidence? "We report, you decide."

I don't know...the "1-2-3 FIRSTDOWN" chant they do is very annoying. I heard that chant a lot in South Bend one year due to Ty Willie.

I remember in the student section they made a pregame program and it talked about all keys to winning the game...
Needless to say Ricardo "too much swag" Allen didn't perform the way they claimed... Lol..
Also I laughed my *** off when cierre hurdled Allen.
