My Irish crystal ball says ND struggles in the pass game while Purdue stacks the box, leading to a low score at half, possibly trailing Purdue.

RL gets benched in the 2nd half and Steve Angelli takes over and leads 1 or 2 drives to score and win by a hair.

I heard that MF and MD are going to run the ball 150 times on Sat. RL may not throw the ball once, so he's the starter because he runs better.

I don’t expect Freeman to have a long leash with Riley on Saturday. He’s always going to have his guys back to the press (which I respect), but now it’s his ass that is on the line after he was embarrassed on Saturday with a historically bad loss. Denbrock too - I’m sure he’d love nothing more than to push the ball down the field, which Riley just has proved incapable of doing.

If we go ~3 drives with limited success, I really think we’ll see a change fast.

IDK bro seems like wishful thinking. There is 1.2 million reasons why I don’t think RL will get benched and he has a super long leash.

In terms of the defense, has anyone heard anything about Brenan Vernon? Injured?

So the SAME EXACT scenario that did/should have played out last week?

You already know the 1st scripted drive will be a success. So the next ~3...

Maybe I'm imagining things, but it seems when we score on the opening drive against lesser teams we struggle.

If they want any respect they will win this game by 3 scores.

It would have to be 21-0 then …

After 2022’s disastrous losses, they barely beat an abysmal 4 win Cal team 24-17 (down 17-14 in the 4th quarter) and beat an abysmal 5 win UNLV team 44-21. The bounce back isn’t always there.

I still don’t know what to think. Despite last week’s poor performance, I still think this defense is good enough to keep teams, generally, under 3 scores. That’s all we need…a QB that can be just okay or decent and can push the ball down enough down the field and get us 28+. We don’t need a Joe Burrow or Lamar Jackson. Just someone “good enough” to complete downfield passes and keep the defense from loading the box.

In RL’s defense, that’s just a tough spot to succeed in. I’m not saying it isn’t warranted, but it’s always hard to do your job when someone is vetting every move and on your ass

Purdue & every defense going forward is going to load the box and play man daring Leonard to beat them w/ his arm. If he does beat them, they’ll make him beat them again…and again…and again…because his first two games have shown no signs of a true passing threat.

Walters had one of the top rated defenses in the nation when he was at Illinois. He’s gonna come w/ blitzes more often than not.

Sounds like none of the ND beat is convinced that Leonard is healthy after Saturday’s game. Will be interesting to see how well he runs early on Saturday. If his wheels are compromised then he’s no good to ND. Denbrock can call him dual threat all he wants, but until proven otherwise he’s a “run first” QB.

This has been the recipe against ND for going on a decade now. You think we'd do something to change by getting even a somewhat competent QB and WRs, but here we are.

That is currently the majority on the Purdue board. Purdue gets shredded by back-up QB's so if Angeli gets in the game it's game over. Joe Montana Part 2.
I think every fanbase feels that way. I know it’s hurt ND a few times.
