Just an FYI.

I beleive some of this is rooted from a tradition that is held between scUM and MSU.

The week of the scUM vs MSU game every year, no matter where the game is at, students at both school guard their most beloved symbols. In East Lansing, MSU students guard the Sparty Statue. In Ann Arbor, they guard the block M that is on the ground in the diag. These cherished symbols are protected over a 24 hour watch, all week long, its pretty impressive in my opinon. This tradition was started back when students at either school would make the drive to the others campus and paint the symbols or in some way make their mark on them so that their enemy knew they had been there. In the past I know that scUM students have painted sparty yellow, and i heard that Spartys boys went up to AA and painted the block M green, and the also have painted scUM rock they have up there green.

I wonder if this might be the start of a tradition between ND and scUM now. All it takes is for one side to fire first and next thing you know, traditions like this are born.

So basically Im asking....

WHO WANTS TO DRIVE UP TO ANN ARBOR WITH ME AFTER WORK TONIGHT!!!???

Then what is it?

Tone down the drama. If we had pulled this in the Big House we'd be applauding.

Exactly. Just a dumb prank.

All I care about is how we play.

I expect domination. My boss AND my stepfather are both UofM alumn.

Please don't make me go through what I went through last year. Go Irish

Some of our fanbase needs to sack up. The sissification of our fans is something that only wins will take away. Saying that we should accept scUM fans desecrating our stadium as "a good prank" shows that you guys are used to getting ran over. Have some pride in our house, our university and our team.

I accepted the desecration of our stadium? That's a bit dramatic. What did I accept? They pulled off a prank? I can't change that. Also, I did not realize it was "our" stadium. Imagine the millions "we" will have to pay now to take down all of that one poster they put up. It was a prank. They got Notre Dame. Good for them. You want to go prank them, go right ahead. It's a rivalry.

They put a poster up. Bring it to the locker room, put it in the bulletin board, make a speech about respect. Did you expect team cookouts and games of red rover between fanbases? Maybe you should sac up and take a joke. They didn't spray paint over Touchdown Jesus. I was saying the team should use it as extra motivation for the game.

I was talking about fans like you saying, "oh gee wizz, Michigan. You got us again you funny characters you". Get mad, have some passion for Christ's sakes. Give a damn when your rival tries to punk you out. Don't just accept it as a "funny joke".

And yes... this is OUR stadium, this is OUR school, this is OUR football team. If you don't feel like that, then you are the one with the problem, my friend...

ND students got Michigan last year, Michigan students got ND this year. Start of a classic rivalry-week prank war. Simmer down there Wooly.

Side note: I'm that guy that thinks ND doesn't need any more motivation in this game, so the banner thing is nothing. Denard and his magical pixie dust that resulted in a Michigan victory last year should be all the motivation that the players need.

You don't joke about the sanctity of Notre Dame Stadium. This is life or death. People's lives and jobs are on the line. To even look at the Notre Dame gates with the intention of pranking is an assault on college football itself.

If somebody came to your church and draped a banner of the devil all over it, would you just laugh it off? I'm not going to go as far calling the stadium a church, but it's pretty damn close. Its significance is just short of making everyone remove their shoes before setting foot in the stadium. You wanna talk about respect? There's nothing more important to us than respect. I hope our guys show that they deserve it on Saturday.

If I were Brian Kelly, I'd take that flag down and hang it in the ND locker room as some more motivation.

Actually, he isn't. Sorry we give a $hit about one of our biggest rivals trying to punk us.

I'm guessing that you and jason were ok with bullies sticking you in lockers in high school too, huh?

Well no, I was the guy that would kick the bullie's ***, not bitch about how innappropriate it was on the internet. ND students struck first last year, did you think there would be no retaliation?

EDIT: and comparing a banner to physical altercation is just ridiculous. Did that frightening banner physically harm someone?

Sure sounds like it with all of your sissified, "it was just a prank, fellas" attitude.

The whole point was they got ND, they can yuck it up all they want but come Saturday it is time to stop the pranks, stop the jokes, and put up. Notre Dame pranked them last year, Michigan pranked ND this year. I am not accepting anything. That is a rivalry. I would rather The Notre Dame Football team talk for me. That was my point.

If I was a student, I wouldn't be talking about my hurt feelings on a message board, I would be thinking of ways to get them back. You guys are acting like they trashed the grotto or spray painted Touchdown Jesus. Those are things to be upset about. This is just part of the rivalry. You say I am being a "sissy", I am saying you guys are being little girls.

So then you were upset when you found that ND students did something similar last year?

I didn't like it, but that's because I think it's a punk move. But it was also just on some building, not their actual stadium. If they would have hung it on the front of their stadium i'm guessing their fans wouldn't have acted like a couple of cross-dressing frenchmen... or maybe they would have, they are meat-chickens after all...

Draping a geico banner over a bagel shop is not the same thing. This banner was placed on our STADIUM. Does Notre Dame football mean anything to you guys?

This is just as bad as vandalizing the grotto or touchdown Jesus because of the lack of respect these people have shown for what is essentially the epitome of college football. You won't catch me returning the prank because it's a classless act that only clowns concern themselves with.

Are you comparing me to cross-dressing frenchmen or a meat-chicken? I'll take the frenchmen all day.

But seriously, I guess I'm just okay with the prank war. I respect the belief that the stadium is sacred (there is no place that I have ever been that literally took my breath away... my first view of the field from inside ND stadium did), but I also think that it doesn't matter so much. If they players have their priorities in order, they don't need any more motivation than they already have, which is the memory of what Denard has done the past two years. A banner? That's college kids being college kids.

I haven't seen Wooly this enthused since the Keil rumors caught fire, lol. I say install a 90' video board overnight and during pre-game, play video of Manti eating a live wolverine. That'll show them.

Wooly.....I'm one of the "it's just a prank" crowd, because that's what it IS!!! We have men and women who put their lives on the line so you and I, and countless others have the freedom and right to post our opinions.....I was the bully in High School who also enjoyed pulling pranks when the timing was right. There's nothing wrong with the occasional harmless prank in which no one was injured nor was anyone hurt in the hanging of a flag on the Stadium.

Some of you act like it's a life and death situation.....it's not, sorry to burst your bubble, but there really are life and death situation around the globe, none of which pertain to a certain football game being played this Saturday. That all being said....I'll be highly disappointed if this team doesn't come out of the locker room and kick the ever living dog **** out of the skunkbears!!! There's not a team out there that I can't stand losing to more than Michigan.

Ha! Funny story. We had new neighbors move in and their hell-children kept throwing stuff over the fence for my dog to choke on. So I would just throw the stuff away. My wife of course called me a big mean-head, but I didn't care. Then one day I came home to my fence broken and frisbee in my back yard. So I told my wife that "I wasn't mad, i'm just going to return their frisbee".

Ten minutes later, their dad was outside, with a BK-purple face, fixing my fence... I haven't seen a frisbee over the fence since...

Isn't this part of college? I'm just glad they didn't use spray-paint...I don't think it does much good to get worked up over the Tri Lambdas and their panty-raid.
