Sorry, man. I didn't realize all of us that disagree with you are just dumb. Didn't mean to insinuate that anyone else's opinion was worth as much as yours. Forgive me for my lapse.

Well you are the one earlier who thought that Saban would tell a recruit if he was leaving or at least be honest with him, so yes you have already proved that you are an absolute homer. Sorry.

Unless I'm sorely mistaken, most or all of us are simply saying that it's a possibility, let's wait and see if anything comes of it. What part of that entirely reasonable sentiment are we supposed to be "better than"?

It wasn't about whether or not Saban will leave. It was directed towards the relentless "Saban is a liar," "Saban is the most horrible person in the world" type comments that 3 or 4 here spew at every opportunity. I understand why they do it, but it's the sort of thing I expect from lesser fanbases.

It's cool, just don't ever let it happen again.

So believing something different than you makes me a homer? I said I don't believe Saban will leave for Texas. I gave a few reasons for believing so (I also know some much better reasons, but that's another story), so now I'm a homer for simply disagreeing with you about a situation that I know much more about. Wow. OK.

No, you are a homer if you believe that Saban would tell a recruit the truth about if he would leave for Texas or not (as I pointed out earlier I don't think he is leaving). But to believe that any coach would tell a recruit, yes I am leaving for another job 3/4 the way through a season is the definition of a homer. Sorry.

No, you are getting all worked up over people calling one of the most well recognized liars in sports a liar... Thinking he won't go anywhere, well that's all speculation on either side... Though talk to the Dolphins on that one.

Maybe I wasn't clear in what I meant. Saban telling a recruit he's definitely not leaving isn't 100% proof he isn't, but it's a good sign that he isn't. If he was leaving, what would he have to gain by being so adamant about it to the recruits? They'd all find out the truth a month before NSD, so it would do him no good. He's working as hard as ever on this class and the recruits seem to believe he's staying. Time will tell, but I'm about 98% sure he'll still be at Bama next year.

I personally believe it is more like 80/20 he stays but where I disagree with you is that it doesn't hurt him to tell a recruit that he is staying but it would destroy him to tell a recruit that he is leaving (it would get around in a hour or two that he was gone which would be bad) so he has all the incentive to tell a recruit that he is staying. No coach that is planning on leaving would ever tell a recruit months in advance that they are leaving, so it means nothing.

No, I'm trying to be as polite as possible when pointing out that you and 3 or 4 others have an overpowering need to constantly disparage all things Saban and Bama for the past 10 months. I understand why and have done my best to get my point across without being blunt and pointing out the obvious. I'd hoped that being told you were acting no better than an Auburn or tOSU fan would do it, but apparently not.

You clearly dont understand ****....I've been calling Saban what he is since before he coached a single game at his current job... And I've been throwing the finger at the tide and their base since I was a teenager... Get over yourself.

Serious question: why is Saban staying or leaving so important to some of you? I understand that as a major sports story, it's of interest, but some of you seem VERY emotionally invested in this.

Here's acamp's chance to say, "Because he's the biggest liar in sports history and no other coach has ever lied about taking a job and I hate liars and Saban's just a dirty filthy liar and kills puppies and is trying to steal Christmas and I hates him, the dirty filthy thieving Bagginses... I mean Saban." :)

Here is my question: what are you doing here, wasting time apparently caring about some 'low end fan base' that you so clearly see through while arguing some point that is totally mute with fans whose thoughts seem to linger with you for months on end for no reason??

Trying to engage in intelligent discussion with knowledgeable sports fans. Unfortunately, you and 3 or 4 others still have a chip on your shoulder and keep getting mad when someone points that out or disagrees with you. Next question.

Oh, and btw, I've never called ND a low end fan base or anything similar. I've said it's one of the better fanbases with generally great fans. I've just noticed that a small minority of you bring hell down on the rest of the ND fans by acting pompous, self-righteous, and constantly bitching about every other fanbase. Your team lost a game. It was disappointing. We've all been there. Act like a man and a good sport then do what it takes to not let it happen again. Don't spend the next year whining about the other team, griping about their coach, and excusing it all by claiming they only won by paying players, steroids, cheating, etc. Even if it was true, it just makes you look weak and like a poor sport. Say "Good game. We lost. We'll get 'em next time." Look around IE. Most have taken that approach. You haven't. Now if that makes you mad, tough. I tell it like it is and that's how you've acted all year. Deal with it.

I called the Texas job the best in the country and Saban a liar....

Yep, way out of line and a chip on my shoulder... Totally baseless on both points...

I forgot how completely insufferable Bishop and Rammerjammer are.

Good grief. I wonder what would happen if I went to a Bama board and told everyone that they shouldn't poke fun at BK cuz he doesn't deserve it.

Toughen up there, Dixie.

i have never understood being on another fan base forum.

i get that if you have rivals you can access them all but to sign up to an independent teams forum and not be a fan baffles me.

Would that be because it's his M.O. throughout his coaching career. His first head coach gig was at Toledo turned the program around in one season. Recruited with the message of Toledo's emerging program then left in FEBRUARY for the NFL. Left players, recruits, fans, and administrators witha see'ya.

Turned MSU program around then blew out the backdoor for Baton Rouge.

Turned LSU around but when Notre Dame's Kevin White asked for permission to talk to him, he told the media he wasn't moving again, he noted how hard moving was for his 12 and 15 year old kids who had to change schools and baseball teams. Asked about NFL jobs he recited the same reasoning, too hard on the family having to move. He was staying put in Baton Rouge.

Until he bolted to Miami.(do you think the kids stayed in Baton Rouge 'cause moving is sooo hard on kids?)

Then he jumped to Tuscaloosa. (the wife and kids are still in B.R., right? )

Eventually Saban is gonna stay somewhere. Law of averages favor it. Meanwhile his career mantra has been to tell players, recruits, fans, and administrators, "I love it, here!" "Come join me as we work together to build this program" "This is my dream job." "Family values ... disruption, stress of moving on the kids ... ". sell the recruits on loyalty fefore he bolts for greener (no pun intended) pastures. Those pastures have been greener and he's shoveled manure each time on the herd he's left behind.

Blah, blah, blah ... de ja vu all over again.

Let it go. This is what I'd expect from Auburn or tOSU fans. You guys are supposed to be better than this.

I have no strong feelings about Saban one way or another. If he stays great, if he goes great. I really don't care. What does bother me is how more than once he emphatically stated he wasn't interested in leaving Miami and never had any talks with Bama, but did. And if he's done it once, more than likely he's lied more than once (see BGIF's post above). He could have handled that much better.

If he's really interested in the Longhorns job, I see this playing out just like the Bama job did.

BTW......Take your rose colored glasses off and be honest with yourself about Saban. Brilliant coach, tends to not tell the truth.

I just read his edit from last night... lol... He certainly is a great example of 'intelligent, adult discussion'... Now, most regs know other long time regs peeves... we've all been doing this for a while. I don’t recall ever starting a thread about bama, but when they are mentioned/brought up, I share my opinion… in a very basic five minute, non extensive search I found this... almost all of the following are years old… LONG before ND and bama ever crossed paths...

But yeah, I’m just butthurt about one game...

I have said for years that..... Vol and Bama fans are beyond anything outside of Columbus Ohio

last I checked Bama just won a title while being on probation.... and I don't buy Saban as a clean guy

That's BGIF's fault for having a friend who went to Bama... one of my students a couple year back had a Dad who went to Bama... the kid was a HUGE Bama fan and always mentioned **** his Dad wanted to say to me...

so in the interest of tolerance I demanded he was shipped to another class... otherwise I would have referred him daily and flunked his hill-billy ***...

Toll Ride.

They are real good at blocking and injecting.... Not so good at spelling or pronunciation.

the worst??? the tOSU, Bama, and Tennesse fan bases each have a giant complex and each tend to give ND the majority of their issues for whatever reasons...

In my mind Bama and The U are the same comparison as Raiders and Cowboys...

both thug teams, just one wears nice clothes....

my sports jerk of the year is easy

Nick Saban.

they should exile him and Saban South Park style... with every Bama fan tearing off a piece of clothing then spitting on them before they send them off on a horse bound for PETA

Or maybe as I’ve said last night, I have always had distain for bama and Saban regardless, thus the M&M reference last night... anyway... if some tide fan can't handle reading it, then please, by all means... go cry on your own boards about it.

Something's gonna catch up to that program at some point. It happens every time. ND in the 40s, Nebraska in the 90's, Florida State whenever that happened, Miami in the 80s, USC in the early 2000s. People get so used to you winning that you lose your glamor, coaches and players get complacent, you get caught cheating, you have a year full of injuries and lose two games and all your recruits jump ship. Eventually what goes up must come down, and history would indicate that this year is the beginning of that decent (the year after the 3rd title in 4 years).

I personally hope this is the case, I don't think Alabama's money-drenched (legitimately or not is irrelevant), win-at-all-costs approach is good for college football. Neither is the way they've dominated recently (except for Bama fans haha). Someone needs to beat them this year, because I don't think they'll even win their division next year. They've got the ideal QB for their gameplan in McCarron, and once he's gone I think they'll struggle (by their standards of course). Fail to win the NC two years in a row and they look like a program on the decline, which speaks to how successful they've been recently.
