Trump on Sunday criticized Putin noting on social media that the Kremlin leader “has gone absolutely crazy... needlessly killing a lot of people.” The Kremlin in response claimed Trump was showing signs of “emotional overload.”

While this is true, it is significant that Trump's tone and words regarding Putin have changed pretty dramatically. He spent months tiptoeing around making sure not to say anything even remotely negative about Putin because he thought that was the only shot at getting Putin to come to the table.

It's possible that he thinks this change could improve his chances for a negotiated peace deal. More likely he's pissed that Putin kind of made him look like a naive chump.

I found these range restrictions ridiculous from the start. Restricting the fighting to Ukraine was a loser proposition from the get go.
