Ok. In theory there could be an option of maintaining the status quo. I’m assuming that military intelligence would provide their best estimates of the probability of any of those things happening.

How high would the collective probability have to be where you could legitimately consider the status quo as a viable option?
I'm not privy to the info any more than anyone arguing in the other direction. The military for the past 3 years seemed to deem it was the right option to fight. Now all of a sudden the entire allied military still deems it the right option except for ours. I think that should raise some eyebrows, no?

Even in America there is a fair amount of pressure to “support Ukraine” which implies continuing to do what we’ve been doing. My assumption that in Europe that “pressure” is probably significantly more, especially the closer you get to Russia.

Obviously we don’t know how many, and which countries, are applying some sort of pressure to negotiate a deal. I wish Trump would be publicly supporting Ukraine while trying to work out a peace deal. Trump obviously thinks that he can’t get Putin to the table with that approach.

I don’t think anyone on this board likes giving up parts of Ukraine. Putin is evil and it’s a bitter pill to swallow, but I think you have to unless countries are willing to significantly increase their involvement to push the Russians out of Ukraine.

Those are all very fair points
Plus, I guess you never know. Trump could always be playing 4d chess to get the Europeans to foot the majority of the bill.🤷‍♂️

I guess my response would be who cares. Russia has proved they are as worthy as Mike Tyson in the ring. If we want to gloat of proxy war like it’s a US victory lap, How many people has China lost?
Aren’t we supposed to be worried about WWIII? What better use of our $850 billion dollar annual defense budget is there than weakening one of the two realistic enemies that war would be against?

China isn’t invading anyone we can support….yet.

I’m all for kicking Putin’s ass and Ukraine getting their land back. The question is, will this ever happen? The last two years have been more or less a stalemate. There is no indication that staying the course will change things.

You ask the question like it’s not a worry so your point of weakening them is sort of moot, right?

Not yet, but the UK and others have at least mentioned sending troops. Allies of Ukraine sending troops would/could trigger a response from allies of Russia to do the same. What would we call that if we aren’t supposed to be worried about a world war.

No one is going to send anyone without our permission/support.

The UK's entire army including reservists is 100K. They have a couple dozen tanks that work. So how many guys could they even put in the field? How long could they support them?

European militaries have atrophied significantly.

Russia has other allies. China is smarter than that just like the US is. But they are involved in this war just as we are. Moves and countermoves. The US is heavily involved in Ukraine and even in Israel. They have the ability to create chaos for the US in other parts of the world. If China told Russia to stop they’d probably stop.

Who needs the United States? Europe has the coalition of the willing up their sleeve.

They got this. Britain has 40 tanks.

I think the German military said they have enough equipment and ammunition to fight for about a week or two.

The best answer is for Europe to deport all of their unwelcome immigrants to Ukraine to be conscripted to the front lines. We could do the same thing - all the MS13 dudes and violent criminals straight to Ukraine. They aren't citizens of the US so we don't have to worry about it. All those military age men entering illegally - straight to Ukraine. Anyone who thinks this is inhumane or unfair while demanding infinite dollars to Ukraine is a hypocrite.

Will they? Isn’t China filling those financial gaps? And when you say “us” you suggesting the US start sending US soldiers?
Yeah Gattaca and/or his kids are going to Ukraine by joining the 82nd Airborne. Lololol. This board is like 4 liberals itching to get us into a major European war. Obviously most liberals and politicians have no real skin in the game who have probably never fired a gun. They’re warriors behind their keyboards. Slava Ukraine

Yeah except they’ll probably shoot Ukrainian leadership first and go awol like most Ukrainian men have fled.

This 3 day operation has been going on for 3 years. Russia definitely has the capabilities to draw US soldiers into an actual conflict lol.

Do you ever sit in a moment of introspection and wonder why you're constantly parroting Russian propaganda? Your lack of critical thinking skills is just mind boggling.

They may have to figure it out quick - but that's not my problem. All the gear and money in the world doesn't count for shit if you run out of bodies to throw in the meat grinder.

Of course I’m a Russian agent because I want the war to stop and therefore Ukraine does not lose more ground. (FYI Russia has consistently gained more land for the past two years). You chuckleheads need to realize the only way Ukraine gets what they’ve already lost is by getting many more boots on the ground. They’ve stooped to kidnapping Ukrainian men. And Americans want no part of sending our men to fight in Ukraine.

Sometimes you have to amputate a limb to save the body. Y'all are Chevy Chase in Vegas Vacation while Zelenskyy is Rusty living his best life.

Ukraine can decide when Ukraine wants to stop fighting.

Yes very consistently. They've advanced 25 miles in a year lol.
