America's largest drone company and supplier of unmanned aircraft to the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been thrown into a supply chain crisis after Beijing imposed sanctions, barring it from sourcing drone parts from Chinese suppliers, according to a new Financial Times report. This is another wake-up call for American companies heavily reliant on China, highlighting the urgent need to 'friend-shore' or 'reshore' critical supply chains away from the world's second-largest economy.

Sources familiar with the situation told FT that Beijing imposed sanctions on Skydio to prevent it from sourcing battery components from Chinese firms.

On Wednseday, Skydio said the sanctions by China were "for selling drones to Taiwan, where our only customer today is the National Fire Agency."

Skydio CEO Adam Bry met with US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and senior White House officials last week to discuss the dire situation as the Chinese paralyzed part of the drone company's supply chain. AP

It will be interesting to see if we can get some peace talks going. After the fighting for this long it will be hard no matter who is in office and Russia want to keep the land it’s gained.

If peace talks include getting Russia out, securing Ukrainian autonomy, admission to NATO and (maybe) the EU sure.

I wasn’t aware we were on track for that right now with the current pace of the war.

I believe NATO rules forbid countries joining while at war. Russia will just stay there in perpetuity if that's the case.

ISW (pro-Ukraine group) seems to be thinking Russia is about to make some "big" gains.

Funding Ukraine is one of the best investments ever.
I really hope Trump randomly decides he hates Putin. The Russian military industrial complex is not on steady ground. The Russians can't keep this going in the long term.

The handcuffs on using US weapons in Russia just got lifted. Finally! Wonder if that came from the Trump meeting.

The calculus on how long Ukraine has to fight changed. Granted i think we should have given them earlier, but the election means Ukraine probably can't grind this out in the long term. Having the most land possible in January is all the matters.

I hope Joe told them oil and gas equipment is fair game as well.

It didn't really get lifted though, did it? It says they can use the ATACMS to defend positions in Kursk?

Do they have many of the missiles? Seems like we are on the 10th iteration of Wunderwaffe that gets boomers excited only for us to find out in two months that it either didn't work or Russia developed a workaround for.

For most of this stuff, it could have been a big deal but only if rolled out early when the Russians were reeling from the unsuccessful early stages of the invasion.

If we have them the green light to hit refineries/oil it could shorten Putin's runway to keep the fight going, but that only matters in a longer conflict. At this point it just helps Ukraine hold ground/exact a higher price at the margin.
