I just got so excited reading this thread. I just hope that a lot of the studs on defense see the field next year. That way they are ready for Dayne last season the following year!

I count 24 guys most likely leaving the team next season. So, that would stand to be 24 new freshman we can bring in. I believe the NCAA rule is 25?? That would go to 22 if Kyle and Floyd stay.

I am sure I missed some guys on scholarship that won't be returning. And I am sure there will be some tranfers. Hope not, but most likely.

For the record... I have heard of MANY, MANY 'silent commits over the years... I can not remember a single one ever actually ending up at ND come signing day...

just sayin.

I think Rudolph can write his own ticket, if there is no NFL lockout. However I really think Floyd needs to start looking interested. A bunch of those misses and drops he would have gobbled up last year for fun..

I also think that Floyd needs another year. This will give him some more experience and some time to rectify a few of the fumbles, dropped passes he has had. Of course we would benefit too and having him come back would be good for us. Add the NFL lockout and this will be really interesting.., even more reason for Floyd to stay another year. Improve his stock, help ND out, and hopefully get picked up the following year by being a first round pick.

I agree. UNFORTUNATELY do you know who I think Floyd reminds me of? Yep thats right, Duvall Kamara. Both had a great freshman year, an ok to descent sophmore year and pretty much a non existant juinior year. Eerie is it not?

I agree. I still think Lyons ends up at UF when it's all said and done. Practically his whole family goes to school there (or went there) and Urban doesn't let great safeties leave FL.

Eerie indeed. I hope he does stay, but these days you just never know. I would love for Floyd to stay, and hopefully he gets back on track. He is super talented, but he needs to work a little bit harder I think. I think if he does go to the Pros after this year, he will be a 3rd round or more pick up. He really needs to stay and improve his game and work on the dropped passes and fumbles.

You've got to be kidding me. If he wouldn't have gotten hurt, him AND Tate would still be on the team this year because in the year that Golden was the best WR in the nation, he was a second option when Floyd was healthy at the beginning of the year. After two games last year, Floyd already had something like 400 yards and 5 TDs. He had much more than an "OK to Decent" soph year.

Wow, even for you, that's bad. You're REALLY reaching here, almost begging to find another reason to complain. Let's look at the numbers:

Freshman Years:
....Floyd: 48 719 15.0 51 7 (TD's)
Kamara: 32 357 11.2 35 4 (TD's)

Soph Years:
....Floyd: 44 795 18.1 88 9 (TD's)
Kamara: 20 206 10.3 28 1 (TD's)

**Oh, and Floyd missed several games. Yeah, that's an eerily similar year there. Sure it is.

Junior Years through 4 games:
..Floyd: 24 339 14.1 37 2
Kamara: 7 49 7.0 15 0

Again, that's just an awful, awful comparison, and something I'd expect to see on a Michigan site or a USC site, but not an ND site. Floyd obliterates Kamara in every single category, every single year, in less games to boot. Plus Kamara was known as being lazy inthe past), while Kelly called Floyd the hardest worker he's ever coached in 20 years of coaching. I'd expect our fans to know the team just a bit better than that. There are a lot of things to complain about regarding ND right now, but all respect, comparing Floyd to Kamara is simply ridiculous.

Guys, NDOM's just throwing out his uber-negative hyperbole as usual--probably laughing about getting a rise out of you. The thought is so crazy that if any of you take him seriously, and have contacts in the psychiatric profession, call 9-1-1. I, of course, will take the High Road and think nice thoughts about him the next time I visit the Grotto.

Odd as it sounds I think Rudolph comes back. Floyd must certainly come back. There may be a bond to see Notre Dame get back to greatness that does this. Just my opinion but Kelly may have something to do with the way they feel. He's instilled university pride back in these guys and it may be a big factor.

becoming?? I honestly looked for the ignore option when NDOM bet on ND to lose in back to back weeks then had meltdowns when he won his bets...

I really think Floyds lack of production is due, in part, to the offense. This is no knock on DC, but you dont replace a passer like Mr. Clausen and expect the same numbers. When I looked at the numbers that NDinLA posted, Jimmy Clausen was the first thing that popped in my head. Cant stress enough how good JC was at ND. he made all the reads, all the check offs, used all his options.

I know Floyd has had some drops, and that is certainly not due to the offense, but I still think Floyd the man.

As far as numbers go, Dayne Crist is better through his first four starts than Clausen and Quinn. Thats a story in itself on ISD.
Lets remember that Jimmy and Brady started somewhere.

Agree with this. If Clausen had a D, and a non-pathetic O-line, it would've been sick. Who else has a 7-1 TD to Int ratio on a 6-6 team. He was that accurate. I also think Floyd is having problems with the new offense. His potential is still sky-high, and this O is not challenging him to some degree. If Tate and Clausen stayed, we'd be 4-0. Ok, 3-1.

Probably an irrelevancy, but I recall a play last year when Clausen threw about a twenty yard pass to Floyd, who was thinking about something else [I guess] and it hit him precisely on the middle of his three on his back. I thought two things; a) wow, what an amazingly accurate QB Clausen is, and b) I wonder what Floyd was doing?? Maybe there was more in that play than I realized. Still, if Crist can get that one "moment" where the light-comes-on and football becomes "slow" again for him, I believe we'll have another QB in the Quinn/Clausen elite level, and different from either of them.
