Morning guys... I'm glad you all decided to take last night to get further worked up over unsubstantiated rumors while completely ignoring the excerpts from Notre Dame's policies and procedures that I've posted verbatim several times. That's the kind of hard-hitting ignorance I've come to expect from IE, and I would have been disappointed with anything less. Bravo! Brava!

The facking policies and procedures have nothing to do with what 90% of our conversations were last night, you self righteous prick.

I was going to ask if it was safe to come back in the threat now, but the first thing I see is Cack's PIIHB....so I am guessing the answer is no

Ah, yes, another night of working my way through ten pages of this thread, missing the Eastern/Central time throwdowns, and learning nothing of consequence beyond the fact that JimmyMac's a standup guy, Rhode's as wise as his avatar and there are occasionally assholes wandering at large on IE.

But one thing I do know is that the process is the process and they're not going to rush it for football players. That's kind of why Notre Dame is Notre Dame. If that's a problem for you, I don't know what to say. Other than Fuck Michigan, on which we can all agree.

To people who say they are not going to rush the process for football players:

Assume the Notre Dame glee club is invited to perform at the White House for President Obama, and Fr. Jenkins is scheduled to accompany them.

Two weeks before the concert, half of the glee club is accused of academic dishonesty.

What happens, with the process?

The answer is pretty obvious.

Why are these football players being penalized by not accelerating the process when their season has started, if the glee club members would not have been?

A week ago Brian Kelly said he was told the process would now be resolved "quickly." He said that a couple of times.

I can guarantee you that by "quickly" he was thinking in time for the Michigan game.

If we lose the game, and a few of the key players are reinstated on Monday, Brian is not going to be a happy camper, no matter how politically correct his comments are at his Tuesday press conference.

Yes, the answer IS obvious.

Only half the glee club would be making the trip even though the glee club is not subject to vacating past performances for an ineligible baritone.

What if it was the entire tenor section? :)

I kid, but I can guarantee you, the process would be accelerated.

(Note: No one is saying exonerate the players, just give them fairness, and stop going overboard to emphasize how you are not placing football over academics, when you would have not treated the Glee Club the same way.)

you're stating speculation as fact. it's the only way your point works. fairness for football players does not mean special treatment.

Seems clear that the ND administration's desire to protect its reputation of fairness to all students and not give football players any special breaks has resulted in those players being treated unfairly (i.e., having to wait longer than they should for closure). It is absurd how long this process is taking -- especially since the investigation was concluded prior to the Rice game.

The matter is not even worth discussing.

There would not be a chance in a million that Fr. Jenkins would show up, without the tenor section.

This is truly riotously funny!

To some others : I marvel at the incredible engineering capacity of human beings. I am constantly amazed at how high feces can be stacked!

And, to me the funniest thing is how like all of these people see themselves as James Fecking Bonds, or Rambos, or some other superhero, I don't know, Dirk Diggler, or someone. But the fact is, so many are becoming unglued at nothing. Certainly, nothing under our control, or nothing that is our business. And some people have gotten in a real fuss about it and really attacked fellow members!

It is really easy to tell who had what training; who operates from what perspective, and so on. For some, I am glad you have your video games and your message boards, so you can extend you fantasies of being a rock solid, bad mo-fo, because the behavior in this thread is comical. Who was it Koon that used to talk Shakespeare, with Cack and me?

This thread is from Midsummer Night's Dream or Much Ado About Nothing! I mean it the Shiite Fairie has certainly sprinkled this thread (and the whole public view of the event) with a shiitton of Farirecrap!

Exactly!

The only other possibility is that the players are guilty as sin, and so they are giving them every possible chance to make a case for themselves.

But I doubt the latter is the situation - at last for all of the players.

ND's outward appearance seems clearly more important than the reputation of the indiviiduals in question. If they are guilty as sin, announce it! That would bring closure, too. Just get it over with.

I agree, but I also would have no problem delaying the process at the players' request, so they can make their argument.

But I just don't think that is what is going on, at least for most of the players.

I just caught up on the last 7 pages of this thread and really don't understand where this anger is coming from. Has Jimmy said some things in the past that fizzed out? Maybe, I don't remember. But so have TP, Lax, etc.

I do know that he isn't make shit up like "I saw X person at a bar" or "Y person was at my meeting tonight." Jimmy isn't making any conclusions from what he says...we are. So relax.

JJ found out Jimmy was banging his girl!

what are you talking about?

Check your own posts on this board, and tell me you have never once repeated yourself.

I was merely responding to the comment that Fr. Jenkins would attend the concert regardless, even without a tenor section.

Bye.

Obama would be happy. He'd be able to get an un scheduled round of golf in.

Everyone's pissed because it's not going fast enough. I think it's going at just the right speed. We're assuming based off the proceeding published here the other day the hearing had 7 days from the investigation to be complete. It's all a plan. In 2012 for Michigan everyone was pumped because Denard stole Shembo's bike seat. This year coming out of a cloud smoke to pump everyone up will be KVR and DD (only ones rumored to be cleared for sure).
