Shouldn't be hard. They have software for detecting plagiarism based on published works. If the alleged plagiarism is more subtle, like strange similarities between their papers that the same tutor "helped" them on, then it's simply about how the parties involved (players, tutor, professor, etc.) answer questions.

I was listening to the radio in Oklahoma today and they were discussion Joe Mixon's charge getting dropped to a misdemeanor for causing damage or something you get charged for pissing in public. They were debating "Sooner Magic" and whether the OU punishment would be over/under 3 game suspension for busting bones in a girl's face. Then they mentioned ND and this and had a hard time taking 'cheating in college' as a serious offense. To their credit they actually applauded ND for their integrity.

Two things that I heard different than some posters. The four players were being held out of practice. They were involved in all other aspects of the program from training table to medical care, etc. Swarbrick said they were being well taken care of as is ND's obligation, but were not practicing if in fact a violation was found.

Second it was clearly stated that these four were questioned today. No accusations were made. There was more that a subtle inference that not all of these players may be charged with anything in the end. And there were other ND students involved. Jenkins made it clear that everyone was a student first. Which all but confirmed those investigated were athletes and non athletes.

This begs the question if someone of the four were questioned about non athletes that they may have had knowledge of.

The investigation isn't finished yet, and the penalty hasn't been assessed. They're suspended until the length and breadth of this is tackled, otherwise you're talking vacating future wins at this point if you let them play and know there may have been an issue.

I think, per the University code, that if Davaris gets caught with any additional cheating incident he is done for good, meaning expelled.

If it's a first time cheating offense, the may not even be suspended. If I recall correctly, it requires two cheating offenses for a suspension. Doesnt mean they wont be suspended by the team, but not by the University.

If its definitely a "sex for papers" ordeal, then maybe it would be worse than that.

The only way it gets really bad is if one of the coaches/someone at the University knew about it, and covered it up/ignored it. Doesnt seem to be the case though.

You are at work, at least thats what you said.

At the PC, they confirmed the four players names. They said they are still enrolled and have full support of the athletic department but are being withheld from practice. They are still investigating. They learned of this on July 29th when the code office was contacted. BK found out yesterday.

Very aware. Been on here all day and listened to the PC. You can use that line of thinking if you want but investigating whether the failed the paper due to plagiarism doesn't take long. Golson's issue was handled before a PC was made. This is different.
