Rest easy Ace
Rest easy Ace
Another example of a cover tune better than the original. RIP Ace

That’s fair. I’m not a fan of the Hello version. Ace’s is more rocking & the fact he’s from NYC gives it extra kick in his attitude IMO. Isn’t Hello a Euro band?Ooo...I dunno. That may be subjective. Don't get me wrong, I like Hello's version and Ace's. Hello's version generally hit slightly higher on various charts in Europe, Australia, and other countries (Except in South Africa). That said, Ace's did well still and obviously was very popular in the US. Both versions have been used in various promotions, video games, etc. I'm not sure I'd put it ahead of the Hello version, but I'd put it right next to it for sure. That's not a bad place to be since a lot of cover songs belong in the toilet.

That’s what’s great about music. There’s different tastes & sounds for all. It’s just my personal opinion that Ace’s is better. It’s why I chose it over Hello’s version when I downloaded from iTunes. To each their own though.Yeah, Hello is European and like I said they seemed to chart higher in general globally, not that Ace's didn't do well too. It seems like teams in New York like the Mets and Giants both use Ace's version after wins/TDs, but domestically the Hello version has also been used for AT&T commercials, the New York economic relief during COVID (Surprised they didn't use Ace's), and at the end of GTA IV. Both versions have been used in a bunch of different movies and TV shows here. That's why I'm not sure which is really the definitive version, both are good.
I wasn't in the habit of tracking OL when I was 7, 8, 9 years old, but watching ND football as kid meant watching Allen Pinkett run, and as a two-time All-American, Williams was arguably the guy most responsible for opening holes for him.R.I.P. ND OL star and former NFL player Larry Williams

I don’t think he will go down or be seen as one of the most influential guitarists. Sorry but no go. If by influential you mean top then maybe. Too 25 no go.You can make a case that he's one of the most influential guitarists ever. Not so much his style or skill, but he's the reason that a few million kids of the 70s started playing guitar. NOBODY was cooler in the mid to late 70s than Ace. He could definitely light up a solo and had a great feel for licks.
He wasn't particularly influential as far as style or skill - not like a Hendrix, Clapton, Page - but in how he influenced a generation of teens to want to play electric guitar. He arguably drew more guys into playing than anyone else.I don’t think he will go down or be seen as one of the most influential guitarists. Sorry but no go. Wow that sucks. He was a couple years behind me. I remember interacting with him once in the chow line at South Hall. Seemed like a quality dude. He was a Cali guy, right? I don't recall us getting many west coast guys for football then.R.I.P. ND OL star and former NFL player Larry Williams

yeah most of the posters on this forum probably don't know of her or know very little of her like me and i'm 54June Lockhart has passed away aged 100. Boomers will remember her as the calm, comforting mom types on Lassie and Lost in Space. She was certainly attractive to preteen boys (like me) with her futuristic form fitting mylar outfits on Lost in Space.

the boys mom died just after them too. Such an insane amount of tragedy for one family. It'd remind of you of the Von Erich's or somethingOh my gosh. Both his sons and now him. That is terrible. Obviously not official word but the PR is almost telling…
